I think using this sterilizer with reeds will ultimately make the reeds last longer. It kills germs and bacteria that would normally work into the Reed and break it down. Very useful gadget

This was a great buy. It truly sanitizes your reeds; killing harmful bacteria. I like that the battery lasts a long time too. I highly recommend this product!

Been use it over a month. So far, so good. Very well made, high quality materials. Power button is very easy to turn in/off. If you keep it in the case or side pocket it can be easily accidentally turned on/off. Wish it could be a side switch instead of a push button. Other than that, excellent product. Love it!UPD: biggest problem of this product after using it for about three months - battery does not hold charge quite well. You have to recharge device every few days. So annoying.

Was a little skeptical at first, but after plugging in and charging the unit, I put in my tenor and alto sax reeds from the practice session. Later, when I removed them from the case it was as if they were brand new! No curling of the tips, and after wetting the reeds responded fantastically. Early to say yet, but if the experience so far is anything to go by I suspect the reeds longevity will increase too!

Wouldn't recommend making your reed last your lifetime but I got a similar model in Silverstein's branding and it worked flawlessly. No need to charge for several months! I tried out one decent reed as an experiment to see how long it can maintain the freshness of that reed. Still tasted like actual cane reed when it's new and works around %50 of its original condition. The only problem is that if you store the reeds in there for too long, it gets this weird ozone metallic smell from the UV so I would put it in another reed case instead and use this product for the UV only.

Really digging this case so far! I used to keep my reeds in an iPhone scuba case with a few drops of alcohol for moisture and to fight the bacteria potential. I've had it for about two weeks and so far so good. I play professionally in L.A. and really need my reeds to not warp and stay the same(stable) when I pull them out. I haven't had to recharge the battery yet either. I've used the UV cleaner every time I store the reed and then I put the humidity pack in to keep the reeds somewhat moist. It is a bit expensive, but when you look at the cost of reeds, it saves you money in the long run!

It’s a little expensive, but does as advertised. My reefs perform just as they did when they came out of the box. Please humidify your reeds if nothing else, it makes them instantly more playable. I still roll them around in my mouth, but notice it is more similar to a brand new reed than one I’ve been playing for a long time. The device is slightly complicated. But the UV seems to work just fine. I’d say if you can spare the money, purchase. If not, at least humidify your reeds.
