This is a good one. Most neck straps are just a padded strap that goes around your neck with a hook at one end for the sax. Here's how this one differs:1) The strap is separated into two "branches" by the metal adjuster. These two branches culminate in the hook as shown in the photos. This handles the weight of the sax differently, making it less of a burden to carry and manipulate. (Note, there's no difference to the weight of the horn, but it's better distributed with this design.)2) The hook itself is almost 100% encased in a tough, plastic shell. A few of the straps in my collection have a soft silicon liner for part of the hook. One or two of the cheap ones are just a bare metal hook.Aside from those two features, the neck portion of the strap is made of nice material, well shaped for the neck and padded. The adjuster is easy to operate. Just take the weight off the strap and it moves up or down freely. Once the sax is lowered so the weight is born by the strap, it stays rigidly in place. There may be as good or better straps out there, but this one is good -- and priced right. Recommended.

I bought this saxophone neck strap for my middle school son who plays the Alto Sax, and while it seems like good quality, it’s not comfortable for him at all. He finds the strap too stiff and too wide, making it difficult for him to use. He mentioned that it might work better for an adult, but it’s definitely not suitable for a 12-year-old. If you’re considering this for a younger player, you may want to look for something more flexible and size-appropriate.

I was skeptical about this neck strap, given the stiff state of the leather upon opening it and also the strange metal contraption. It is actually very comfortable to use, and I feel like it provides much better cushioning for my neck than the usual foam-padded household name brand ones. Give the leather some time to warm up and shape around your neck, and it'll be just fine. The metal component allows for easy, very precise adjustment of the length, and as someone who plays alto, tenor, and bari, I found it to be completely comfortable, whether I was positioning my horn to the side (metal will generally not rest on your chest, but may be slightly) or in front (metal might be on your chest, but it doesn't feel obtrusive).

Pretty good strap, and it does take some pressure off my neck, and that’s great because I do have neck problems. I’ll use this for practice, but it just didn’t feel right at the gig. Maybe I’ll get used to it enough to gig with it. I took a full star off because the little bit of rubber on the hook was not designed to last, and in fact came off the first time I removed the horn! I have another strap that I paid less money for that has a very good bit of plastic on that end of the hook and it has lasted for years. I will use some heat activated plastic on the hook, because bare metal against the Sax hook does wear the hook out overtime. But I should not have to do that, this strap was not that cheap in price.

Even when fully raised, the hook hangs too low. This is fine for a tenor but other horns will need the lace shortened. Fortunately, this easily done. There is a metal cylinder in which is the knot in the lace. It can be pulled out, tied off to shorten the lace, and the knot pulled back into the cylinder.

I've been using this with my bassoon in place of a much thinner, unpadded neck strap. HUGE improvement in neck comfort. The lanyard on this is a bit shorter than on the bassoon, but that didn't matter for me. And if it did, I could simply attach a small "quick link" on the bassoon's strap ring to give it an extra 2-3cm as needed. But for now it's sturdy and comfortable and it's my go-to strap (I hate playing with the seat straps and I might never go back!)

Comfortable! The padding on the back is thick but not too obstructive. With the weight of the instrument on your neck this is a downright comfortable experience to use and better than the one my instrument came with, which was frankly a cheaper one. I look forward to practicing even more and maybe even performing while using this.

I was excited to give this to my son to use but he ended up not liking it. He prefers the neoprene strap. The product is really nice and of good quality. I'd recommend the product, if you are in the market for an upgraded leather strap.
