Unlike the burrs available at the discount box stores, this burr seems a lot tougher. I haven't used it on metal, but I suspect it will last a while if not abused.

I use it to help clean up burls for epoxy pours prior to turning. Works great. Value is perfect. Seems that the sharpness is long lasting and cuts quickly.I will probably buy a couple other models so I can have a variety of these. Great purchase for me.

Appears to be carbide as described. Used to bore a channel through fire brick to run heating element for a heat-treat oven. The nature of that material would very quickly destroy anything other than carbide; the bit did its job efficiently.

my locked bathroom door could be easily opened even when it was lock, the solution was filing the strike plate. This was wayyy easier than using a metal file, did the job in seconds

I was pleasantly surprised with the quality .I bought it basically hoping it would at least do the job i needed it for , and it actually worked good , and still has lots of life in it .Nice when something is actually " better " than you expect it to be .
