I buy a pair of Scarpas about every 10 years when my old ones are finally worn out so this newest design, I really like Scarpa actually engineers their boots to make it a better boot. This is a good one.

SCARPA is generally a great product, I’ve owned and continue to own many of their products. With that said, this boot failed miserably within 30 days of my purchase. I went on two treks with these boots totaling approx 115 miles and the soles completely delaminated. It was like they had dry rotted and just fell apart. I’m returning them and buying Asolo…

The return instructions aren't exactly correct. It is free ONLY if returned in the original box which is either wrapped in paper and tightly taped with the label on the outside OR the original box is placed inside another box for shipment. In either event the original box must be undamaged and cost of wrapping material and labor or a new box being purchased must be paid buy the person returning the boots.Updated 2/15/2022 These are high quality boots. I have used them for many years and thousands of miles.The suppliers of the boots is another story. I have ordered 2 pair and have returned both because they were the incorrect size. Apparently if they don't have the absolute correct size they send something close. Not a good idea for backpacking on rugged terrain.Finally contacted Scarpa directly and they promptly shipped the correct size at the same price.Happy am I. South Walker me2ga99

I bought 3 hiking boots (thinking I was getting "mid hikers") and also ones I could have free returns on. I tried an approach like La Sportiva TX4, a mid B-dry Oboz Bridger to this beast. My kids and wife said "No way" to this. My one daughter said, "Don't get those, they look like horse riding boots"! This referenced the shiny leather and strange way the leather folds together. But it makes for a snug fit as you lace it down. I wear USA 11 and I got 11.5/45 Euro size. This is what I would go with. I would tend to where a thicker sock with this and the leather folds well to snug it up. Some boots like this will be so rigid that they are more boxy but I like this. Be aware this is a heavy boot. They are in a different league than the others I referenced. I will walk around the house, upstairs and down to see which one I like best. I think the Oboz (being cheaper and more typical fare) might be my choice since I can see myself doing lighter hikes and even just trouncing around in the snow. But these I think would be going on a serious hike carrying a backpack and looking to stay bombproof on the way down as far as ankle support goes. I did not like that the insole is glued in as I would opt for a custom orthotic in this boot since the arch support is minimal.

These boots are very comfortable. I have extremely flat feet and these were recommended by my doctor. I have really liked them. However, this is the second pair whose soles lasted less than a year. Much too expensive of a product for only a years worth of wear.
