Our older track nails had a much smaller head and these seem stsurdier and easier to use. Work great. Only wish is that there would be a larger quantity pack available.

They are just nails painted black. Go to the local hardware store and by some nails. They will be covered up anyway. Who cares what color they are. Also will cost you 5 times less.

I model in HO scale and I'm using 36" Life Like flex track. My track bed is Woodland Scenic which is glued to 1 1/2" foam insulation board. This is a figure 8 design climbing up 2 feet high consisting of four levels to reach the surface. I needed a nail long enough and strong enough to get a good bite into the subsurface. These are perfect. The subsurface starts with the 1 1/2" foam board, then a thin coating of foam putty, followed by plaster cloth, a thin layer of waterproof silicone adhesive chalking to hold the foam roadbed. The nails were fasten through the holes in the flex track and down into the subsurface material. They are holding firmly! After my first purchase of one pack to test their durability, I eventually, purchased four more packages. I highly recommend this nails!!!
