Overall, this was a good item, and my 6-year-old grand nephew is enjoying it, but the 3 star rating is based on the fact that we could never get the lens and viewfinder to calibrate correctly, so we weren't able to see the objects in the night sky at the higher magnification. It was amazingly easy to assemble, very lightweight (my grand nephew can move it around with ease, as well as help assemble the telescope). The telescope is great quality, and the lenses work to a reasonable degree, but we couldn't get the more powerful lens to focus correctly in order to see the moon or stars or planets in higher magnification, and often we couldn't see anything through that stronger magnification lens (just black), which was frustrating and disappointing. Three different adults tried calibrating the viewfinder according to the instructions without success over several weeks. We will continue trying! The instructions are clear for assembling it and using it (even if we couldn't get it calibrated), and we used it on clear nights with minimal light pollution. Meanwhile my grand nephew is having fun playing at being an astronomer, and we can see a few stars and the moon more clearly than with just our eyes. Maybe the 6-year-old will figure out the calibration issue for us!! Makes a good gift for a budding astronomer.

These pictures are just showing what comes with it and a few of the directions it can move. Ok truth is I wanted to see the moon up close and personal and still would have to wait another week before I will get that glimpse of the moon. So I went out early this morning and sent some time in the cool air this telescope setting it up and getting it ready to see something as far as I can see this morning. It has a little site with a cross hair to help find what you are looking for and you have to set that by finding something a ways off and then getting the telescope to find it back and forth until you get them in sync. The site glass is upside down and it does make it faster to find what your trying to look at, so there is that. I then placed the number 25 lens and focused it to look off the the direction of where the sun was fixing to come up and there were these amazing clouds with the sun shining off of them in the distance, but the sun hadn't come up yet so it was really sweet. I wanted to take a picture but the adapter I could never get it to set up so there is that. Anyways as I watched the sun come up I changed into the number 10 lens and refocused to get a closer view with the 3 times viewer that I put on too. It was a beautiful sunrise and I did enjoy my time this morning. Where the screw is that you put the lenses in is very easy to strip out as there is not much for the threads for the screw to hold onto when the lens is in so be careful there. It is a toy, but a pretty good one and I am an adult and I still had fun with it like I was a kid for awhile. The optics are well done and I still will be waiting to see my first full moon with it. It would also nice to bring along a foldout chair with it too, so you can relax and enjoy the view. I do hope this helps you find your inner child again or at least give a child that enjoyment while they can.
