If you have any electrical/mechanical skills, this is an easy part replacement. I contacted a appliance/refrigeration repair company and asked how much they would charge to replace this and was quoted $910. I thought it just can't be that hard and ordered this part online. For $65 I got an OEM replacement. I slid the ice maker from under the counter. I had to remove the back panel of the ice maker (8 screws) (Scotsman under counter residential Brilliant Ice maker) and the service panel on the front (one screw). I removed the two screws that hold the bin thermostat and cube size adjuster in place on the front of the ice maker behind the service panel. I removed the two screws that hold the bin thermostat to the panel and noted the two wires and removed. I pulled the thermostat lead through the back and had my wife guide the lead into the front and removed the old thermostat. I then did the same in reverse to install the new thermostat. It was very easy. I plugged the ice maker back in and pressed on the on switch and it instantly started working. I did take this opportunity to thoroughly clean the inside of the ice maker and I ran Clear 1 lime and scale remover through the ice maker. I would recommend removing the upper ice making parts and thoroughly cleaning them. They were quite dirty and it is easy to take apart and put back together. I ran the ice maker for a few days to allow it to clear the scale remover (an acid) and then threw away the ice and wiped the inside of the ice maker. Everything works like new. One thing that you must adjust is the temp on the thermostat and the size of the cubes. These two dials - one of the new bin thermostat and one on the adjustment just above the bin thermostat on the panel behind the service door on the front. There are resources online to tell you how to increase and decrease the size of the cubes and the temperature to find the best setting.
