This is a common problem with the otherwise terrific Scotsman Ice makers...the sweeper ice gear gets a little brittle over time and ice buildup causes it to fracture. Plastic fragments appeared in my ice!! I ordered this one as a replacement. It's a perfect match. I struggled a little to get the cover off found where the sweep gear was, removed the screw (by feel) and the broken sweep. Reversed the process when the new one arrived and I was back in business! Pretty easy. I am only moderately handy. Saved some $$$.
