Being a little skeptical about these before they arrived, I'm now a convert. For winter dirt riding, they're a perfect balance of protection and added insulation for your knees and shins. Less bulky than knee braces, they still require letting your boots cuff out a little. But this said, they add a tremendous level of warmth and wind protection to your lower legs. Just enough padding for a minor get-off, they aren't too bulky. About the same as normal knee / shin protectors, but lined with a fuzzy insulation layer. Very very nice addition to winter kit.Only one minor gripe. They could have a little larger flaps. I don't have tremendously large calves or lower thighs (pretty standard 34/30 pant measurement), but they only *just* give me enough velcro to close securely. I'd prefer about a 1/2 or " inch more on the flap, as they tend to loosen over time. This means over a period of hours, you have to pull down your pants to re-adjust, re-tighten. But even with that inconvenience, they're still a great idea.

Got these as the season was coming to an end. They worked great i just wish i had more time to test them as the weather got very cold very fast.
