I was looking for a travel size BCD so that I would not have to ever check luggage. This one fits the bill, but I don’t love it. It comes with a backpack that you can cram it into along with a few other pieces of gear, but it has exactly 0 pockets. Who makes a backpack with no pockets? it has two straps on the backpack that allow you to attach it to your rolling luggage bag, or you could probably attach a pair of fins externally. That’s the only extra storage option on it.The weight pockets are pretty big and bulky. It’s a trade-off having the weights integrated in the BCD, which I like a lot. But not having the pockets would save a lot of room in the small backpack. I’ve seen other Travel BCD’s without the pockets that seem like they would take up a lot less space in a bag. Cressi and Oceanic each have very small travel BCD models, but you’ll need to dive with a weight belt. That may not seem like a big deal, but when you dive with integrated weight, you realize what a great feature that is. I guess it’s a trade-off between a small size for packing and more features on the Scubapro. This BCD has no pockets, which is pretty inconvenient I am looking at adding a Scubapro pocket that affixes to the bottom of the weight pocket just to have space for a light or any other small equipment item. The integrated air on the BCD hose is a big plus. It means one less hose on your primary valve. The idea is that if a diver needs your octopus, you give them your primary hose and breathe off your BCD inflation hose and mouthpiece. It stays out of the way without taking up a pocket or needing a clip. I have not used it as my air supply underwater, though I believe I will do so on my next dive trip.I have 18 hours underwater with this BCD and I like it. With the air bladders on the side and back , you sort of hang in it when you are neutrally bouyant. It is not confining at all. I tried on a M-L and an L. I went with the L on the recommendation of my dive shop. However, I wish I had gone a size smaller. My chest strap is as tight as it can go, and I could probably go a little tighter. overall it feels a little big on me. I am 6 feet and 220 pounds.Still, if you have a dive shot near you, I suggest working with them. You can try on gear, get advice and the prices are the same.
