I'm teaching some students about geology, specifically gold and gold panning. There's 15 of 'em in my class and each one needs a gold pan. I found this deal and honestly I was exhilarated. Great price for bulk gold pans. After a few uses they seem to hold up just fine. They're not bulletproof mind you, if you want a more durable pan you're looking at steel or other higher priced stuff. These fit my need perfectly.

It's is a smooth, durable plastic, what more can you say other than it works exactly as it should. Get a screen that will fit inside it so you can separate the bigger chunks of material. Nice pan and quality for the price.

This pan is very light weight and bigger than what we expected. Looking at the pan online was a little misleading. The ridges looked like they wouldn't work and it didn't look very durable or big. However, when you get this pan you will find that it is actually a fair size. It's not very deep and it's very light. You can easily swirl water and dirt out of this pan. The hard pieces that are smaller will catch on these little ridges without a problem. It's lots of fun and it really does work, also it's at a great price! How can you go wrong?!

I hauled this lightweight, durable pan all the way down to Costa Rica's Osa Peninsula hoping to pan up some sweet Costa Rican gold, and while I didn't find the mother lode, I did have fun sitting in the river trying! Yep, no gold, but I did end up with plenty of black iron sands in my pan, so it is definitely catching the heavy stuff and I reckon if I had been panning in a "colorful" spot then my pan would be showing color, no problem. Pan is super durable-- made it through two weeks of hiking, rough airport baggage handling, etc. I can't wait to head out to 49'er country here in California and see what I come up with. Great pan-- I'd buy another but this one feels like it will last my lifetime!

A pan of this size usually goes for about $14.00. It is not my favorite pan due to personal choice about riffle design, but when you go panning you often have friends or guests with you and these are the perfect loaner pans. They are big enough to be used as a processing pan and small enough for kids who can't handle giant pans. For yourself, consider a 12" pan (fits on top of a 5-gallon bucket while still allowing the handle up). Or a much bigger pan, 17" or something, if you are a pan-processing type. That said, this is also a great beginner pan, if you end up hating panning you are only out a small amount of dough.I keep four of these in my gold gear for friends and kids. I have ABUSED them in every terrible way possible and they have never cracked or split--and I have busted other pans before.
