Works with very clean water. I couldn't keep it from sticking on. It would stick on when bilge water got on it. It worked with clean city water. If I cleaned it, it would shut off until the saltwater or oily water got on it. I thought it was going to be great.

installed in a boat for the backup or secondary bilge pump, when we tested with quick flooding, it worked great, turn on and off with no problem. When in everyday use, the sensor get a few drops of water on it, it turns on but won't turn off, once you have splashed a lot of water on it then it will shut down as the water falls off of it. This product is a waste of time and money! Can return because as been open and used. I bought a float switch and now it works as designed. I like Seaflo products in most cases, but this one need to be redesigned. JM

I thought I was replacing a mechanical switch with a highly reliable, longer lasting switch, which is accurate. What came with those positive attributes was that the circuit does not really go to an open when not in contact with water. My water indication alarm, that takes milli-volts to be audible (105dba) generates about an 80dba sound when the switch should be open. It passes just enough current to make noise on the buzzer but not operate the bilge pump. My solution was to buy another mechanical switch for the alarm and leave this to operate the pump. Good luck.

I paired these auto sensors with four bilge pumps from the same manufacturer. Problem is the pumps spray water when activated onto the auto sensor, which “tells” the pump to keep pumping, essentially a “do-loop”. Pump will run until it burns out, and gos on fire. Could not use any of these sensors, and have gone back to float switches. Another person told me if these sensors have any oil on them (think normal bilge environment) they also activate the pump, and the pump runs forever. Very dangerous from a fire hazard point of view. So, although it’s a great concept, I find these sensor's not usable in a real environment.

Wow, worked perfect in my 12 foot aluminum boat. I attached it to a small board attached to the transom with the bottom of the sensor touching the hull. It runs a 12v water fountain type pump, a Diann Submersible Water Pump. Perfect.
