The horn part stayed on for about one dog walk. This makes it too unreliable for me to use while at the dog shelter.Every time I made a sudden movement like stepping aside for a jumpy dog greeting it was enough jostling to lose the horn.

I'm going with a one-star review on this because in my experience this is not a product you would want to depend on for an emergency while boating, paddling, etc. I actually had one of these in my paddling gear.... cleaning out the gear one day I came across it, gave it a 'toot' and discovered that my boxers LOVE the noise. It's fun to play around with the boys... they get fired up and start chasing each other around the house. I bought a few just to keep around for fun. As others have said the sound is very underwhelming and it is very finicky to use, more often than not it does not work. If you are looking for an air horn that is pretty loud, small and dependable check out Falcon Safety Super Sound Horn, they also have replaceable canisters. *** I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT FOR EMERGENCIES ***

LOL, just kidding. It is loud, which, well, is what you want it to be. Odds are, volume is what you are going for with something like this. Volume is what you get.But it does run out. Which is a good thing if you give it to a smart alec

I bought this horn basically as a gag gift for a co-worker. When he tried it, we found that it didn't work especially well and did not last long.

This was a waste of money. It barely worked and mainly shot out the fog rather than blasted a sound of any sort. I went to my local hardware store and i was able to buy one. It was the same brand but a different model and worked perfectly.

I purchased the Seasense Pocket Air Horn (actually six of them) because I wanted something to take on kayaking trips to warn approaching motorboats away (figured it would be louder than a whistle). To make a long story short, this horn does not work. After getting it wet, I needed to use it once and it only emitted a feeble hiss. I would suggest the product is worse than useless -- it's downright dangerous. If someone gets in trouble on the water and thinks this is going to work, they're in for a nasty surprise. Admittedly, the "small print" on the package indicates that you need to keep it in a fully upright position. However, it's also marketed to paddlers (the marketing indicates you can attach it directly to your PFD). How many paddlers are going to be able to keep this thing fully upright? The manufacturer has done a disservice to the paddling community, as has Tami Morgan (the aftermarket vendor) and Amazon for allowing items to be sold without any indication of whether or not they work. UPSHOT: THIS HORN IS NOT FOR PADDLERS!!!
