While longer wire leads would have been helpful this seems a quality product for its price range (-13) and works well with the "old style" zamak one that had a missing rubber insert/cover and was very corroded.While it has a different bolt pattern and slightly larger diameter round section than the old unit it was also larger so all the old holes were covered up by the new one.The design of the rotating cover is also a nice touch and hopefully out lasts the rubber cover utilized in the one being replaced.NOTE: this does not fit the plastic hold down or sliding tightening piece used on many 80's and 90's all around/anchor lights, but the fit on the pole of the light on this boat provided a solid and secure attachment to the new base (I will actually be using a different taller light from another boat that did not have that piece so its a non issue even though it would only be cosmetic anyhow).

I bought this BECAUSE it is made of plastic and won’t get pitted like the zamac ones typically sold as replacements.
