Needed to replace 20+ years magnetic contact on garage door. Could not find it locally. Of course, Amazon had it. Product is a quality item. From documentation it can work on an open or closed loop. Was not sure of what mine was but replaced the old one and it worked great. Took about 20 minutes to install. Garage door is now being monitored again.

This reed switch works great for my hardwired garage door alert. I have tried other self contained garage door alert options, but they all had a internet communication delay of 2-15 seconds. This switch makes the alert instantaneous. The strength of the rare earth magnet easily bridges the 3/8" gap between the door and the garage door frame.

Well constructed and exceeds the magnetic distance sctivication specifications by about 0.5". Works in any orientation (I use upside down).I will be purchasing more.

My house had security wiring, but lacked the connectors on the door. This worked well with my security system, and was able to easily see the state of the door.
