The green had the seeds sprout but the same cotton’s for the red, and they have not sprouted in a month.

The Seed Needs Shiso Seed Packet Collection is perfect for anyone wanting to grow both red and green varieties of shiso! The seeds are non-GMO and untreated, and I had excellent germination rates with both types. The plants grow beautifully and add a unique flavor to my dishes, especially in salads and Asian cuisine. This collection is a great way to add diversity to your garden, and the quality is top-notch. Highly recommend for any home gardener or herb enthusiast!

The Green grew like gangbusters. The red were slower going and less hardy but still worked great. Start in a pot and transplant at the 1 inch mark.

I was really excited for this combination of green and red shiso seeds which I bought last summer and still have good germination in2023. However it's not real RED shiso but seems like mixed with green. Maybe the package I got was bad one I guess. Also this shiso doesn't grow well in my soil. Yes it's germinated well but most of them either die or grow very small. I am still figuring out how to grow Shiso but BE AWARE RED MIGHT NOT BE 100% PURE RED. As you can see photos looks green front and back is reddish.

The combo pack was a good idea. However, the Green shiso sprouted and is growing well. Im getting all I need.On the other hand. The red did nothing. No sprouts. no life. Nothing showing at all.Planted some of each color in the garden and in starter pots. The green is doing well both in the garden and in the started pots. It is over 2 inches tall. June 10, 2022The red shiso is a no show. Nothing. The red color is what I wanted the most. We make tea from the leaves as a drink. So sad..

The seeds took longer than expected to germinate but once they were up the plants are doing fine. The green variety has leaves with less serration than what I am accustomed to but the taste is fine. The red variety has nicely serrated edges and great taste. However, I will probably ask my family to send me seeds from Japan for next year.

I grow shiso every year next to my basil in the garden. They're quite similiar in their germination, growth pattern, and needs. I always start them in seedling trays, lightly pressing them into the soil and gently watering them in. I collect seeds in our garden. I had a few shiso seeds from last season. All of them came up. All of my basil came up. All of my herbs sprouted/germinated except these seeds! Not even one Shiso plant from 600 seeds! Now the thing with Shiso, is their seed doesn't really germinate past a year. I know from experience. I've come to the conclusion that these are very old seeds. Don't waste your time or money. I'm very disappointed! Btw there was no date on the seeds package, which I found strange, as I've purchased Botanical Interest Brand Seeds before, and they have a Season Date printed on the packs.
