Went to Lowes and grabbed wrong supply valve from the correct box(happens). Didnt notice till i tried to hook up the commode . I was able to correct my mistake easily with this little tool. Was able to pop the wrong one off and install the correct valve.Note: I wont reuse the valve I pulled off per manufactures recommendation.

Substantial force and manipulation are needed to unlock one-inch fittings with this tool. It needs to lock in the compressed state.

I read some of the one star reviews and was hesitant to buy these as the reviews stated they were very flimsy and the forks would bend. It must have been SharkBite competitors writing the reviews because these are made of extremely thick metal (for the task). The are nearly 3/32" thick and feel very heavy for their size.I needed to make a 180 degree turn in a pipe in order to get the correct mounting orientation for a SharkBite hose bib fitting. This meant two-90 degree elbows placed closely together. I decided to change the configuration a little and attempted to disassemble the 90 degree fittings with those plastic "C" tools they give you. It was impossible. There wasn't enough room to get the thick plastic between the two 90's (I had cut the copper a little too short) and even if there was, I never would have been able to exert enough pressure to have the plastic collar part of the fitting release the pipe.It took literally 10 seconds to pull the fittings apart with this tool.My only complaint is that they are a little short and it's a little difficult to get the leverage needed to push the collar back, but this is such a minor point. Get these if you have to remove SharkBite fittings!

This thing does exactly what it should, but in my case, no amount of pressure released the fitting (old, outside, some calcium deposits). If you think your fitting is going to be extra trouble to release, consider cutting the pipe rather than buying a tool like this one. Or, maybe buy the more expensive pliers-style tool.

Okay so basically you want to know 2 things 1 does it work and 2 is it worth the money. The answer is yes and yes. Now for the people who want more details. There are a couple ways to deal with shark bits one is to use an adjustable wrench like the ones with the dial in the middle and you can adjust from side to side. This is if you dont have the actual shark bite little c clip remove. but i can tell you from doing plumbing for years those can be a pain and you dont want to be tugging and pulling on pipes connected with shark bites too much. Last thing you need is to turn 1 job into 2. The issue with this tool for most people is that you need to use your brain and adjust it so that one side is over the back hum of the shark bite and the other side press the compression coupling. There is another review about bolting a screw to make it permanently adjusted. That is non sense why do all that extra work when the tool is fine as is. That is like trying to reinvent the wheel. Any tool I need to spend another 30 minutes in the shop adjusting is not worth buying. This pulls it off quick and easy with less need for hulk strength. Just also keep in mind in my personal opinion its not good to be removing and reinstalling the same shark bit too many times. Each time you remove the shark bite it leaving grooves on the pipe i feel puts more wear and tear on the pipes and can cause leak in the future. So its a great diy product that makes things fast and simple but when you can i would recommend solding the pipes. But which plumber doesn't keep a couple shark bites handy now a days. Also always make sure you fully seat the shark bite fitting when putting it on not pushing it down all the way can cause leaks. also clean the pipe with a rag or paper towel to remove any debris. If the pipe has old lump of solder or anything that can prevent a smooth connection i would use another fitting. Anyhow back to the product now it feels strong and durable can be dropped or tosses in tool bag without worry. Finally its pretty cheap cost compared to time you waste trying the diy removal process or using that sharkbit c orange thing a ma gig they give you.
