If you own a TJ you're probably familiar with the broken gear shift bezel ring. I'm on my, I think, third or fourth at this point. I don't know where the design failure lies, but at least it's an easy and cheap repair. This kit came well put together. The bezel was intact and seems sturdy. The boot is soft, pliable, and didn't arrive deformed from packaging.Installation is a simple process. My way may not be correct, but I removed my shift knob, pulled the bottom of the boot over the bezel, pulled the boot/bezel over the shift, then pushed the bezel into the console. It takes a whopping five minutes if you take your time.It works well. A few weeks after installation and the boot/bezel is not loose. The boot material is soft and a rich black. I think it's a little softer than OEM, which does make it jiggle a bit, but nothing odd or obnoxious.I didn't buy this kit for the boot, but it was only a few dollars more for the kit, and when you can get a spare Jeep part for a few bucks, you take it. The boot was better quality than I pictured, so I'm glad I did.I recommend this kit!

This fits a 2002 jeep TJ perfectly. Just make sure the cover is on each of the corners and they stay on when you pop in the base and it will work. Easy install.

The plastic surround fits fine but the shifter boot itself is tight. It does not feel like the OE rubber material, more like a urethane that doesn't stretch as well. Leave it in the sun for a bit prior to installing and you should be okay. Easy to clean, a little shinier than the OE rubber. Longevity it should not fade.
