I own several Stratic C14’s and the Vanford 2500 is a nice addition! Smooth as silk and well made! I filled the spool a little less than halfway with 12lb mono and the rest with 15lb Berkley X9 and a 10lb fluorocarbon leader. Casts really well and a pleasure to use. Currently paired with a St. Croix 6’8” MH Mojo Bass Rod. Very pleased with this purchase!

This reel was suggested by a friend that knows fishing much better than I do. It's more than I have ever spent on a reel but I think its a good investment in a unit that will be long lasting. It was easy to assemble onto my new rod and fill with line. I found it super smooth to both cast and reel. It is very lightweight yet still extremely well made and appears durable. Highly recommended!

I like that it's adjustable for when you need to retrieve slowly or fast for the type of fishing your doing. it's also able to be used by right or left handed people. even the 3000 series is lighter than most other products. it also has a nice drag system and the bail is reinforced so it won't loosen over time. It's very versatile for all kinds of fishing and lightweight. It's also very durable it's been banged around and hasn't broke the bail yet.

I've had problems with internal grinding and problems with bail closure. Evidently this is a common problem with the reel. For this price, I'd expect better quality control.

This is the best feeling reel that I own. Oozes quality and feels like it will last - like a Lexus say. But I fish it back to back regularly with a Pflueger President XT, and I have to say that it's hard to justify that price tag! The Pflueger casts as well as the Vanford (maybe even better), but its retrieve is not quite as good (does not feel as direct, nor does it pick up as fast), both have excellent drag. I don't skimp on buying gear, and might buy another, but it's tempting to put the extra bucks into a better rod - say a St Croix Avid rather than a Premier. Hmm...
