we've used this shoulder rest in the past. They are more comfortable for small child's frame as opposed to a more traditional assembly.Eventually though the adhesive surface wears out and a new item needs to be bought. Despite it being clearly overprices for a piece of foam - we did periodically buy one as they lasted us a few months. This time the item arrived completely dried out, there's no adhesion at all.tried emailing the manufacturer -- but the email bounced, and their website appears to be down.Going to return

I bought this as there were very few shoulder rest options for a 1/32 size violin. It's a big waste of money. The static cling concept does not work. The foam does not help kids to properly position the violin, as the "groove" part is not in the correct place on the foam. I ended up having to physically tape the foam onto the back of the violin.

Item works as expected, the only this is that it would be better if the included backing paper was made out of plastic, that way it will reusable more times.

I have been a professional violinist for 42 years and this is the best shoulder rest I have found. The violin shape ( in addition to being cute ) allows for flexibility since the thicker sections have support at the shoulder and collar bone. The problem I have had with the hard wood or composite shoulder rests is the strong resistance they have to movement. All violinists vary head pressure and position, or move their torso slightly during performance We are not statues ! This rest allows motion, which frees the left hand for shifting, vibrato, etc. Many of my musician friends have switched since I let them hold my violin with this shoulder rest attached. Because this product moves, you don't feel stiff after hours of play. The only issue is the care and cleaning. The sticking power will vanish unless you wipe the surface with a damp paper towel about once a week and put it back on the protective cardboard each and every time. It only takes a minute more before rushing out to the next gig, and is really worth it ! When the sticking finally wears out just get long rubber bands to loop across the violin back (in colors or plain)from an office supply store.

I was wavering between a 2 star or 3 star review. I landed on the 3 star side because the product itself is nice, and it does work well as a shoulder rest. The AcoustaGrip Concert Master shoulder rest is a bit smaller than I thought it would be, but when placed correctly, it feels very nice and supportive. I really like how it's soft and yet provides as much support as a traditional shoulder rest. This is the kind of rest you can use if you have lots of beading or intricate embroidery on the shoulder/collarbone area of your gown, and you don't have to worry about it getting smashed or abraded. Now, the reasons why I would give it 2 stars:1.) Finding just the right placement of this rest can be tricky. Since you can stick it just about anywhere, it's easy to put it too far forward/backward/sideways/etc.2.) You can't store it in the case with this on anymore than you can store a violin with a traditional shoulder rest on. That means you have to take it off each time you put your violin away...which means you have to put it on again each time you want to play...which means that you have to find the right placement of it yet again. See con #1 for why that's a drawback.3.) It doesn't fit so well in traditional student violin cases. The video I watched about it showed the person placing it groove-side down over the strings of the violin. When I tried that with my student violin, the lid wouldn't close easily and I didn't want to mash it down on my violin nor did I want my bows to leave permanent indentations on the back of the rest.4.) You have to put the protective backing back on each time you take it off and store it. That is yet another tedious step since the backing is the exact shape of the rest, and takes longer to align than just whipping off a traditional rest and stuffing it into your case. I am contemplating cutting out a square of parchment paper so I can just slap the rest onto it, and not have to fiddle with trying to get the backing exactly aligned.Overall, the AccoustaGrip functions well as a shoulder rest, but I don't feel it's worth the premium price compared to cheaper shoulder rests. My 10 year old daughter actually prefers the cheap, Everest shoulder rest I bought for her since it's easier to put on and take off, and stores easily in her case.

My only regret--- that I didn't invent this myself! I LOVE this and now recommend it to my students. In my specific situation, my violin is rather unique in that there is next to no 'lip' left around the bottom curve of the instrument--- the age of the instrument, or whatever, has resulted in the wood of the ribs kind of expanding past the normal margins. So, that leaves almost nothing for a traditional shoulder rest to clamp onto, and shoulder rests ALWAYS CONSTANTLY fall off. What a relief to find this! It's just so cool to stick this on there and play! It's as comfortable as my normal kun/Everest/Mach one (I haven't used my wolf for quite awhile) ---(I'm a shoulder rest junkie)-- and the instrument does sound good, too--- not enough maybe to quantify it, but it's simply awesome that this rest works so well. Also, now in my double case of both my violin and viola, I no longer have to carry TWO shoulder rests (with my viola, I have used a Bon musica rest--- wonderful, but big)--- since I can use this for both! STREAMLINED! And this fits in the case, over the neck of either instrument, so I don't need an external bag for it, and at less than $30, this is something that EVERY violinist and violist should definitely try!
