We've given it a few tweaks through the years, but its basic mechanical principle remains the same: a unique over-center locking mechanism that provides an unrivalled combination of power, speed, accuracy and ease of use. One smooth flip of the lever locks it securely in place, and removes it just as quickly. And the Shubb capo is BY FAR the best at not creating tuning problems. Its soft, resilient rubber is specially designed to work just like a fingertip, so it doesn't bend the strings over the frets. Its closing action is just like your hand, so it doesn't pull the string off center. As a result, no re-tuning is necessary! This year our standard line of capos received its biggest tweak yet: we've upgraded our most popular models - the "C" series nickel plated capos - to include the design features formerly available only on our deluxe, stainless steel models. I have about 5 of these for various guitars and I love them. However, I bought this one for a mandolin and the adjustment range is too small. It works, but it's very tight. Also, The backside interferes with my left hand.

I bought it for my octave mandolin and it fits until the 7th fret but by a very small margin. If your OM / Banjo has a bit broader fretboard I would chose a larger one

The Shub is my favorite capo for banjo, and the new ones with a roller are getting to be my new favorite for guitar. I bought this one for my Bouzoiki, and it’s perfect for the task.

I like the pointy end screw type not the roller type. The roller can easily come undone while playing. I ordered the pointy type shown but received the inferior (in my opinion) roller type...

This is a nice quality capo for mandolin! Quick connect/disconnect. It cleanly clamps on all 4 strings.
