These silicone gaskets are a godsend! I've replaced so many rubber gaskets on a lot of heaters. The rubber melts, hardens, and/or cracks, leading to poor combustion and build up of soot inside the combustion chamber. Eventually the soot builds up too much rendering the heater inoperable. Usually in the middle of the winter when your need for heat is most wanted.
