A must have for every equine first aid kit!

Our poultice dressing features a boric acid and tragacanth inner layer. This potent combination provides excellent absorption properties, ensuring efficient management of exuding wounds. It can be applied wet or dry, with a wet poultice being most effective at drawing fluid out. This creates a moist, clean healing site, providing the optimal environment for wound recovery.

Wet Poultice Application:

  1. Gently clean the application area.
  2. Place poultice in a clean, shallow container with the plastic backing facing up.
  3. Pour water around edges of poultice in container.
  4. When saturated, gently squeeze out excess water.
  5. Position poultice with plastic backing away from hoof.
  6. Cover poultice completely with bandaging tape. (Not included)

For hot wet poultice, use hot, potable water (38°c/100°f)

For cold wet poultice, use cool potable water.

The perfect size for the average horse's hoof, these cotton pre shaped pads are not flimsy and work well with a wet poultice for bandaging hoof abscesses, a spongy comfortable material to use while your horse heals. I have been using these hoof pads for weeks while my gelding's hoof heals after a nasty abscess. Easy to apply, comfortable for the horse, secured with vet wrap and duct tape or we recently received our Cloud Boots, so we are poulticing with the hoof pad, wrapping in vet wrap securing the end of the wrap with a small piece of duct tape and then putting the Cloud Boot overtop and its worked like a dream.

Accidents happen. Anyone that keeps a 1st aid kit handy for their horses will appreciate having this package of hoof dressings in their arsenal. No need to look for clean cloths or gauze pads to use. These have a plastic backing that keeps dressing on the wound and not going through cloth away from it.This is one of those items you never want to use but you'll be so glad you have it when you do.

always hard to say what works and doesn't for wound care over time but in terms of product itselfprice is good, certainly not more expensive than most and cheaper than a numberlower price doesn't seem to be lower qualitygood size for your average horse, can't imagine size would be an issue for the vast majority of peopleneed your own wrapping/adhesive to keep on but that's typicalplastic side is nice

I use poultices occasionally after long trail rides and like to keep some on-hand. These are the same thickness as the ones I usually purchase. They have a nice plastic barrier on one side to keep any ointments against the pad after wrapping. They are a good size for most horses, other than draft. The price is a bit cheaper than others I've purchased.

If you ever find you need this product you will be glad you had it because it is a handy hoof shaped pad to use to dress a variety of hoof problems. Much simpler than trying to cut something out of sheet cotton or some other material.

Convenience is great, but I was looking for a little thicker pad. I’ve bought other brands that were twice as thick as these.

An Amazon censor thought it best to remove my more detailed review. Not sure why. So just let me say that these pads are purchased before we need them...like bandages. These pads are a little thin, but will serve the purpose of treating an under the hoof wound. They are well packaged which will keep them clean until when and if we need them. Good product.
