I love to travel. I speak a little of a couple of languages, but I'm not really fluent in any language other than English. I generally use Google translate to help me when I'm traveling. I thought these earbuds were a great idea and was eager to try them out. They do work. They are not perfect. It is cool to hear the translation directly in your ear. It is not simultaneous - but it is fast. Below is my experience.First of all, you need to use their proprietary application with the earbuds. This is often a red flag for me, because if they company goes out of business the app will not be updated and will eventually stop working. I understand the company doesn't want to depend on another entity, but this is a concern. It was not straightforward to get the app set up. First of all, I had to find the app. I tried searching in the app store, but got a lot of extraneous hits. The provided code took me right to the correct app. Once I downloaded the app I had to create a sign in with my email. I don't like to do that because most companies that require this then sell my address and I get an increase in junk mail until I block all the new bad guys. The headphones were easy to set up in bluetooth. The next problem was figuring out how to get to the translation software. I had to read the instructions to figure out how to do that. The screens that come up at initial start up are kind of busy and it took a few tries to figure out how to get it all working. After that initial setup, the screen that comes up when you start up the app ask you to select your device. I only own one device supported by this company. I guess they want to continually remind me that I could buy other devices. Now you get a screen that gives you choices of how to use the earbuds. The first is Touch Mode where each of 2 people wear one earbud each. It's called "touch mode" because you have to touch your earbud to start talking. I tried this with my husband with me speaking Spanish. We both found that touching the earbud did not always work. Also, I'm fine with my husband using my earbud, but it doesn't seem very nice to share an earbud with a stranger. We finally gave up on this method. The next option is called "Speaker Mode". In this case one person wears the earbuds and the other holds the phone. This worked very well, especially when we tapped the screen to talk instead of the earbuds - tapping the earbuds was really not working very well for us at all. That said, I'm not sure the earbuds are necessary in this scenario. When I use Google translate I use a mode similar to this - but without earbuds and I do pretty well.

The earbuds are generic ear pods. The App also seemed to work with my other headset. If you follow the (very basic) instructions, you and another person each ware on earbud and one translates to the other. So that's cool. but not overly practical: Hea can you put in this earbud? The instructions are minimal at best.I was able to have the system translate some Spanish and some French and see the words on the ap and hear the translations in my ear.Update: After contact with the company with instructions: The documentation is not very complete; i was able to use the earbuds to hear translations while using my phone to listen to Spanish speaking workers at my home. The app does work (online was free) and as long as it could hear the system captures talking and translated it. It was somewhat sporadic and not a 100% free flowing translation but enough to do the job when needed.

The ear buds looked fine. But you have to connect them to an app on your phone which is OK, until they want $59.99 a month to us the translation app. I'm don't need a translation earbud that bad. That's $720.00 a year for this thing. That insane.

You need a subscription for it to work and it's pretty expensive for the use I wasn't to happy about that
