How to Measure!
Measurement Guide
Immediately outside the car with the door open, measure the distance from the ground to the top of the car seat at the midpoint between the front of the seat and the back. The Slide 'n Ride long legs (outside the car) extend from 18-1/2” to a maximum of 26-1/2” in 1” increments.
Secondly, inside the car, measure the distance from the floor of the car to the same top (midpoint) of the car seats edge. The short legs (inside the car) extend 7” to a maximum of 9” adjustable in 1” increments.
Lastly, to assure that you have enough door swing clearance please do the following, cut a 17”x17“ template out of cardboard. Hold the template against the door frame and the edge of the car seat. Measure the distance from the edge of the template to the edge of the car door trim while the door is in its widest open position. You will need a minimum clearance of 7” in order to slide off the top of the Slide 'n Ride and into the car. ** This is a major concern so please be sure to evaluate the width of the door swing opening with the cardboard template to assure your door will open wide enough allowing leg swing into and out of the vehicle.
Set-up and Installation
Unlock legs from seat
Press the release tab to unlock legs from seat.
Unfold and lock legs in open position
Unfold exterior long legs and unfold interior short legs and listen for a 'click' to indicate that legs are locked in place.
Install and set interior leg length
Place short legs over and behind the passenger door sill so that they touch the floor inside the vehicle. Adjust length of short legs with spring loaded tabs. Release tabs and listen for a ‘click’ to indicate that legs are locked in place.
Set exterior leg length and level
The long legs should sit on ground outside of vehicle. If the seat is NOT level, press the tabs on the long legs to adjust seat to a level position. When seat is level, release tabs and listen for a ‘click’ to indicate that seat is locked in place.
Assisting Passenger into a Vehicle.
Once passenger approaches vehicle, the Caregiver should instruct or assist them to turn 180 degrees, step backward until the seat touches their legs.
The caregiver should instruct or assist passenger to sit on top of Slide ‘n Ride.
The caregiver should instruct or assist passenger to lift one leg, then other and place inside car while turning 90 degrees into vehicle. Instruct or assist passenger to use hands assisting themselves off Slide ‘n Ride and onto the vehicle's seat.
The caregiver should instruct or assist passenger to buckle seat belt.

This works perfectly for me. But is very very expensive. Their return per item sold must be astronomical. But……….it’s the only game in town for now. No assembly, weights 12 lbs., flip out the legs and you are ready to go.

While I commend the overall concept, and the ease of use, I’m questioning the construction itself. There’s several cold shuts to be found on the legs, and while I’m uncertain if they are enough to cause any issues with the use, it does raise questions. Each photo attached you will see these cold shuts (or cracks if you prefer) at critical junctures of the legs. I’ll wind up rewelding or fabricating replacements in due time, but that’s only because I’ve got the knowledge and equipment to do so. If you don’t have the knowledge or equipment access, and see these in your own product, return it, and don’t take that unnecessary risk.

My elderly mother is in a wheel chair, and we are moving her into our home. That means we will need to be able to get her into and out of a vehicle periodically. Our mini-van is too high for her, and my car is too low for her. I spotted this Slide 'n Ride and thought I'd give it a try. It completely exceeded my expectations. First, it is far sturdier than I expected. The legs have great stops and slide in and out easily. It is made of thick metal, and I can't imagine it ever failing. The best part is that my mother can easily get in and out of our mini van using this. We help her stand up from the wheelchair, pivot slightly, and sit on the Slide 'n Ride. Then she just slides across into the seat. Way, way, way easier than trying get to the seat directly. I highly, highly recommend this if you are in a similar situation.

The slide and ride is a simple contraption, but performs well as designed, described and manufactured. Relatively expensive, but well-made, sturdy and simple. I was able to stand and pivot my non-ambulatory mother, sit her on the slide & ride, and then slide her in. Having to do it without it would have been more difficult and stressful (this breaks down the process of getting her into the car into separate steps). I was nervous about using it, but was very pleased to have it. The physical therapist was pretty impressed with it, she had never seen it.

Easy to carry, easy to use, sturdy made, very lightweight the transfer from the wheelchair to the van so much easier and safer than others transfer boards, great product 👍

We checked the chart for compatible vehicles and our Prius was listed as compatible. However the device is absolutely dangerous and unsafe. The white sliding surface needs to be level with the seat to have the person slide over smoothly but the interior legs are to short even at full extension leaving a gap of about 3 inches of no support contact with the interior. We tried it anyway and as suspected when we slid him over the product fell in at a slant requiring us to climb inside the car from the other side and hoist him back up and over the seat edge. If the interior legs are laid flat on car interior then the product is 3 inches away from top of seat still requiring him to be hoisted upwards and dangerous. It just doesn’t work and it hurt my husband. I do not recommend

The seat is easy to put the legs up and down and adjust the height. The product material is quality made. The problem: it simply doesn't fit many cars. The Ford Fusion and Toyota Pruis were VERY unstable. The front legs did not have an even place to sit which made it very wobbly. I feared that mom would fall off. Even in these smaller cars the seats do NOT line up. Mom was not capable of lifting herself up to get onto the car seat. There also was not enough room for mom to swing her legs around between the seat and the car door in order to get into the car. In the right car I'm sure it would be a great help if it sits right to make it stable.

Excellent device for assist us to transfer our mother from her wheel chair to the front car seat. Like the way the height of the slider is adjustable.Some difficulty moving her legs from the side of the slider to the front of the slider. Right front corner would be better if rounded. Also some difficulty moving from the seat back to the slider do primarily to the shape of the front seat cushion.Love the way the device is mobile and folfs for transport snd storage. Very durable and safe.
