The product came with a missing bolt and was wrapped in cheap plastic, you’d think you’d get a nicely packaged item after spending 70 bucks but no! And after the order getting delayed by a day and the package arriving late its now unusable and the replacement arrives in 2 weeks?? Horrifying work!

This cage is very well-made and is super sturdy. You can tell that small rig put a lot of thought into this design. It attaches in three spots on the camera to ensure that the cage does not wiggle around. It has lots of places on it where you can mount additional accessories. My favorite thing about this is that on the bottom there is a little multi tool that you slide in and it secured with strong magnets. This multitool helps you attach the cage to the camera. This is a very cool addition because usually when you get stuff like this, you always lose the multi tool and then have to buy another one. It fits perfect, and it doesn’t wiggle at all. Overall this is definitely a five stare product.

Like other reviews, difficult to access power switch and battery.SmallRig should keep the design as R5 & 6.

This small rib cage is a must have for any fledgling or beginning starter kit for any video production regarding Ken are six Merlis cameras. Small rig is the epitome of. The best in the business, and this is a Graham starte Kitchen starte The put your hand alarm to put your pool focus on the set up your microphone to put your separate side handle and protect your camera for when it falls on inadvertently drops off of your Gimble off of your rig off. Even when you have a good handle do you wanna have this on there? They guarantee that your camera safe so it’s not read this review and just go ahead and buy this and it start composed, compositing your rig now, if you need additional help how to create a rig look up video small rigs on instagram.

Build Quality and Design: The SmallRig Cage for Canon R8 is a nice piece of gear. It is made of aluminum alloy, which provides excellent protection for my camera but also feels sturdy and durable in hand. The cage fits the Canon EOS R8 like a glove, leaving no room for any unwanted movements or vibrations, and looked good once installed. Smallrigs cage design incorporates an array of cutouts that maintain full access to all the camera's essential ports, slots, and controls. The cage is equipped with multiple 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 threaded holes on all sides, providing an extensive array of mounting options for accessories such as monitors, external microphones, lights, and a top handle. I often find myself in rugged environments. This SmallRig Cage will provide a reliable shield for my Canon EOS R8, shielding it from accidental bumps and drops while I am out and about. I like the new addition of the magnetically attached Allen wrench and straight screwdriver on the bottom of the cage.

You have to screw in both sides of the cage with the supplied wrench and it will fit in the strap loop of the bony itself, making the cage a much secure 3 point fix array, plenty of 1/4 holes for accesories and a cold shoe, you cant ask for any better cage

If this was going to be a 5 star product there will need to be some changes made to the design of this. I use my R8 handheld and sometimes in a DJI RS3 gimbal. The direction that you must slide the frame into the DJI mount is backwards for the design of the RS3 gimbal, it forces you to remove the lower tilt arm just to slide the camera into the mount using the Arca swiss bottom of this cage, it is also too thick for the locking lever to completely close on the gimbal which may reduce your space to slide the camera all the way back to balance. I also use the R8 for streaming coaching sessions, where I use a dummy battery to keep constant power to the camera, the same issue would exist if you powered your rig with a v-mount battery, there is no room for the cable to exit the battery compartment and close all the way with frame on. Last gripe is that it is very difficult to reach the battery door with the frame on which sucks for use in all scenarios. Small-rig, you need to actually use the frame on the camera in the design process, this would be a fairly simple fix if there was a design change made to the lower right hand side of the frame to make room for better access to the battery compartment. Unfortunately I think I need to return this as it is more of pain to use my camera with this cage on it. I love your products but this one needs to go back to the drawing board.

I have a SmallRig GH5S cage that's great, so I bought this expecting to be just as satisfied. Unfortunately, this cage makes accessing both the battery/memory card and power switch much more difficult than it should be. It's solid otherwise though.
