Product works as described and is sensitive enough to detect the motion of elderly as she gets out of bed. The ability to control the volume of the alarm chime at the receiver end is a big advantage. Seller should consider bundling this product with a AC adaptor.

This is my new best friend. I take care of my 94 yr old Dad and he has dementia. He likes to sneak out of bed especially at night. He's already suffered from a broken hip and a bad scrape and bruises; separate episodes. I was going nuts until I found this gem. The key is to have it strategically placed bc it is very sensitive to motion. I have it under his bed in the corner at an angle. He's so nosey, he is aware of it though. However this works as the best placement, otherwise, it picks up on him turning over, blankets sliding, etc. So with it under his bed, just before his foot hits the floor, it is detected. I gave 5 stars, and I'm hoping the battery life is good. I don't have it on all day but definitely yes for all night...I just got this a few days ago. It's a little pricey but it works so it's worth it. The monitor works several rooms away which is good for me during the day or if I'm outside in the yard bc he is bedbound. Gives me peace of mind during the day so I can go about other tasks or take breaks. My only thing is the chime. I wish it had different options for sound. I was in a deep sleep around 5:00 am this morning and I have no idea how long it was going off. I actually wondered in my dream what was that noise. It's not blaring though. Tonight I will turn the volume up to medium. I had it on low so maybe it was too soft while I'm asleep. But the fact that I was even asleep and in such a deep sleep is because this thing works!! During the day if on low, I can hear it immediately, even if I'm in another room. The (motion sensor) is smaller than I expected and it seems like it'll break if I'm not careful. I hope I don't step on it. Also, if chime does happen to go off, remember to reset both the sensor and the monitor afterwards.

Bought to manage my father's nighttime wanderings (he has Alzheimer's dementia). It has a reasonable detection range within a room, and a reasonable range within the house (I use the alarm on batteries in the basement when my father is on the main floor). The detector unit doesn't alarm on its own, so won't startle or upset a person. There is a time lag before going off - several seconds. Enough time to get to the person, but not before they stood up or started to walk. As a fall alarm, may have too much time lag; as a wandering alarm, works well and has prevented many a bladder accident. On the good side, if properly set in the room, will not give false alarms for rolling over like the mattress pressure-pads do. Alarm volume can be set down, and lowest level, while loud, will awaken me but not startle my dad. Battery life is good.

I usually write reviews for items that I have issues with. However, this product deserves recognition.I’m caring for my 92-year-old mom. My dad passed in November and my mom’s health has since declined due to heartbreak. She is living with me. Since she is weaker, she has fallen 4 times within a few days. She needs constant supervision and help will all activities, including going to the bathroom. She will get up at night and try to make it on her own. I found her one morning on the floor next to her bed. She had fallen and had been there for quite a while. Our room is several hundred feet from her room so we cannot hear her if she calls for me. I was struggling to find a solution. After researching for alarms for the elderly, I found the Smart Caregiver. OMG!! This product has changed our lives! I put the sensor on her nightstand and the alarm on my nightstand. It is super easy to set up. It took exactly 90 seconds. It has 3 volumes. I put it on the lowest and we hear the chime easily. When I goes off, I get out of bed and find my mom sitting up on the edge of the bed. She looks at me and asks, “how did you know”? If you are looking for something that alerts you to when someone is getting out of bed, this is your solution. I cannot stress how this has made a difference in all our lives. She has not fallen again, and I am resting easy!!

The caregiver alert monitor has worked flawlessly in the few weeks it has been used. The motion sensor is set on the lower shelf of a nightstand, where my spouse with dementia sleeps, and I have the alarm a couple of rooms away ( 40 feet away) on my nightstand. The lowest volume alarm wakes me up as soon as my spouse swings her legs out of bed. In the middle of the night , I can see how it would be easy to forget to reset the alarm , once it has been turned off while attending to your loved one, although, I haven’t forgotten ... yet. The lack of an auto reset is a flaw, although the interval would vary for each individual and circumstance. A simple indicator light on the alarm when armed would help remind the user to reset it. The motion detector flashes an amber indicator light when detecting motion, which may attract your loved one, but my spouse tends to ignore it . All in all, a good product , well worth the peace of mind.

I have been a caregiver for my granny for two years now and as she slowly declines there have become new obstacles to overcome and the last one involved her falling in the bathroom in the middle of the night. It was a pretty bad fall but no broken bones thank God as she's 81 now. I've been learning as I go since being given this fairly new responsibility and I knew I had to figure out a way to know when she gets up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom. I've had this a month now and find it very helpful. I position it on her dresser (you have to try out a couple positions to see what works best for you) and it wakes me up when she gets up out of bed with the options of a high, medium, or low chime. So far the only problem I'm having is trying not to scare the bejesus out of her when I pop up unexpected half asleep in the dark, but it is necessary as she is high fall risk. I definitely recommend this when taking care of an elderly family member who is unsteady on their feet and has frequent falls.

So far this has met my needs 100%. I read the vast majority of reviews both positive and negative. I realize that it will really depends on what your needs are. My need was to be able to determine when my family member is attempting to get out of bed. If you place the motion sensor on a nightstand you can easily position it to identify at what point their legs come over the side of the bed at which point the alarm will sound. I agree with the other reviews regarding the alarm. There really should be a reset button that you tap to stop the alarm and reset it. For now you will need to turn the alarm off with a switch on the side. After you have taken care of your loved one's needs, you need to remember to turn the switch back on. Considering that this is usually taking place in the middle of the night when you are still sleepy, it is easy to forget. Fortunately I have not forgotten but I understand why other negative reviews have strongly expressed this as a concern. If this had an easy reset button I would have given it a five-star review. Currently, there are no other competitors for this product. I think once another company comes up with a new and improved version this company will get a fire lit under them and improve their product. For now, there really isn't no incentive.
