I wanted a solar fountain for my yard to help attract birds. This is exactly that. HOWEVER, it requires sun to work. It will literally turn off when a cloud flows over the sun. It doesn't store the battery power at all. While it is very cute, and works fine WHILE IT IS IN THE SUN, I think a better purchase is a solar powered fountain that stores the power. Or even an electric pump.

Bought this as a gift. They love it and said the solar aspect of the fountain is perfect because they don’t have to worry about running electricity for the water pump.Slightly smaller than I had thought it would be, but it is a cute addition to any garden.

I really like this fountain. I was a little worried because the reviews were mixed, but mine works well.

We bought this just to have a little soothing water noise in our Southwestern backyard. It was a good choice for that. Easy to assemble, and the solar pump produces a good stream of water. There is a long cord between the solar panel and the fountain, so that adds some flexibility with regard to where you place it. Note: this does not use a battery, so if there is no sun, the pump turns off…immediately…so you obviously can’t use it at night. Still, for the price we are very satisfied and are hoping to buy another version of this once it is back in stock.

I had to update my review. When I initially purchased this, the pump wasn’t working, I reached out to customer service. I spoke to a really nice man Philip he told me to try different things. I tried them all it didn’t work. He said he was sending a new pump out and a missing part, it took a while not his fault just a bunch of things that went wrong. He contacted me and asked if he could make a better by sending me a pump. I could use indoor as well as outside I have never been treated so well I’ve never been more impressed with a company. I hope these people recognize what they have, and Philip not because he gave me something free but because he took the time to follow up , I’ve already given up I figured OK well I bought a nice bowl. I’ll just have to figure it out. When the summertime comes I’m thrilled. I’m looking to buy more things from this company. I can’t say enough good things about customer service their product how much they stand behind their product , I don’t leave very many reviews. I was totally inspired to leave this one. Thank you again Philip, for all of your hard work you are deeply appreciated.

I have two of these, one is this one with the frog and another with a fish. Love them both. I’ve had the fish for about 5 years now and the frog for about 3. Still haven’t had to change out the pump. Everything works fantastic. During high pollen seasons, I clean out the bowl and pump so it doesn’t get mucky, but otherwise, they just do their thing. As long as the panel is getting direct sun, the water will flow. No cloudy days, eh? My friend purchased both, as well, when she saw how much I liked mine. She has to clean the pump a good bit because the placement in the garden has the bowl filling with debris often, which stops the pump from flowing correctly. A quick clean, and she’s back in business. Easy to assemble, looks great, flows great, long lasting! I’m thinking of getting another soon. Something I love about this bowl is that if you put it in the garden, low, the depth is perfect for frogs to soak, as well as birds to play. If you’re a cat lover, you could put it out for the cats. If you just want to enjoy some water in the zen garden, put it on a little table. I use my fish on a table and the frog as a ground-level fountain so that the frogs can soak and make toadpoles. The price is definitely high, in my opinion, but it is a worthwhile investment. All these years of enjoyment! If for any reasons the water stops spouting, just give it a good cleaning, adjustment, and let it sit for a bit. It’ll start working again!

Nothing attracts birds like the sound of moving water. I was looking for something to incorporate to my existing birdbath like a Water Wiggler or a fountain motor piece, but I gave up on those ideas after a significant research. Water Wigglers take up too much space, don't make real water sounds, and I could not find a good add-on fountain solution for my birdbath. I noticed this frog piece upon browsing for fountain items, and decided to give it a try as a second decorative birdbath to place near my deck flower planters. I was glad that the ceramic item arrived well-packaged and intact. The piece wasn't perfect and there were several ceramic mold bubbles and imperfections. Setup was easier than anticipated from reading other customer reviews. The frog part simply gets pushed down through an existing hole on the base ceramic piece at a 90 degree angles of the final position unto the top opening of the fountain motor piece, and then the frog is twisted back to face the bowl. No tools necessary, and it takes less than 2 minutes (can be done in 10 seconds or less once you've done it once). I filled it with water, connected the cable to the Solar panel, and the fountain setup was done. No decorative river stones come with the product as shown on the photo. It is definitely a shame that it doesn't have any reserve battery power as a solar product. The fountain stops when the sun isn't shining directly in full light or even with strong wind shaking the panel. However, I've noticed the 6V sticker note on the solar panel, and was able to find a spare 6V AC adapter that I had saved from other gadgets (which luckily fit perfectly to the connecter) to make it work even at night. This product is a bit overpriced at around $80, and it really should be packaged with an AC adapter for customers while it lacks any battery power. With the frequent on/off mode of the fountain motor, I am unsure how long it'll last either. I've noticed that the manufacturer offers a replacement pump part (SP-160X3S) for $25.45 (including S&H) so I'll worry about that later when/if the pump breaks. The water level will need to be maintained to prevent the motor burn out from running dry. There is an overflow hole so I might water it along with my flower pots with an automatic watering system. My backyard birds are still using my other birdbath (much larger and sitting higher), but the sound generated from this fountain seems to attract more of them to my deck. The water sound is very relaxing to me as well, and the birds seem a bit bolder feeding from a nearby feeder while I'm outside close by. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the purchase and glad that I took the plunge.Update 8/2013:I may have underestimated the longevity of the fountain pump. The frog fountain still works despite having had it run dry several times because I forgot to maintain the water level. However, the water stream easily stops if I move or touch the frog figurine, and then I have to disassemble the frog and get the foam cushion gasket reseated carefully with the pump pipe. The pump filter has to be maintained often to clear the water flow, but I'm relieved that the pump is still working albeit less robust water stream than when it was new. The solar panel is very sensitive by light changes, and a small shadow (like a few tiny leaves) can cause the fountain to stop. You should assume that the fountain will not work unless you have full bright sun. I'm still glad that I have the fountain, but the frequent maintenance can be a chore.
