UPDATE: Rating lowered to one star from two. Item returned. It leaks water. What a waste of time and terrible shopping experience. I hope they don't try to pawn this off on anyone else without first examining it and trying to fix it before had, and also, let the purchaser know it is a used espresso maker. If they do just forward it to someone else, well, at least I cleaned it up and packaged it better than when it arrived here. Anyway, time for me to look for another brand. I'll be filtering SMEG products out from future shopping searches going forward.The Original Post: So far, not to happy with the packaging. This was obviously a used and returned unit and they didn't even bother to open the box to check on it before shipping it off again. It was covered in coffee grounds, like someone dumped them all over it. The original packaging was just stuffed in one section of the box, all the parts dropped back in the box. I had to clean it up and sweep up all the coffee grounds that fell all over the floor when I pulled it from the box. Had to wipe some stain off the side etc. Anyway, after cleaning it up and getting it turned on, the first espresso it pumped out was very good! So, that is a plus. But I'll be keeping a close eye on its performance since it is obviously a used unit. Good thing I bought the extended warranty. i'll come back here and update my rating if it keeps pumping out good espresso for the next couple weeks, and forgive the obvious used / packaging faux pas.

I loved it. I used it about 50 percent of the days since I got it. I convinced others to buy it. My return window ended jan 31. It’s Feb 9. It asked me to descale. I bought descaler and followed the directions. It no longer turns on. I’ve done all the power-related problem solving. I’m pretty upset.

Maybe it seems pricy,but you are not only get it's brand name,it's the design,it shines for your kitchen or living room.And they know how to make a proper coffee than Sturbucks combin with Kimbo coffee beans,it would be another level.

I rarely leave reviews, but two days later, this machine is stuck on #29 blinking, meaning the dish tray isn't connected. But it is. This is decorative junk.

We love the extraction of the flavor simply awesomeYou need to keep the machine really clean but that doesn’t matterYou need to do some little work to obtain the final product as holding the container of the milk in order to the machine froth it but again it doesn’t matter as wellThe taste of the coffee is so great

Love the Smeg brand and design. The machine is possibly over-engineered or we received a refurbished model. Consistently the sensors would note a full canister or lack of water, when that wasn’t the case. Water pump fully quit after eight months,so I’m going to sell it for parts on eBay. Disappointing because this was a birthday present for my partner who loves Smeg and coffee.
