Knowing the water temperature outside before you get ready to jump in is wonderful! Device has a 200 range, so we can keep it inside, while the thermometer piece is in the water. The backlight on the receiver is always off until the button is pressed, then it will only stay lit for about 10 seconds. Battery life is not listed, however after fully charging mine, after 2 days it still has a full battery.Set up was fast and easy, no app needed or specific button pushing, it was all automated and simple. You only turn them both on at the same time after charging them, and they will connect themselves. Took about 2-3 seconds.Instructions are in English, and easy to follow. The type is small, I had to use a magnifying glass, but it's only a 1 page pamphlet so not much to it.Easy to clean, no harsh chemicals of course, just wipe it off.For entertainment, there is of course the light show. Has about 8 different modes and lasts for, according to instructions, 4 to 6 hours. Our pool is not open yet, so will need to wait for warmer weather.

Looks like it is doing what it should so far. I plugged the receiver into a USB charging port and let it charge until the light turned blue, I left the transmitter out on the deck table for a day to get a good charge. I did what it said for pairing, held the power button on both units. Then I dropped the transmitter into the pool and left the receiver inside. I let the transmitter come to temp (a somewhat cool 73 degrees - note, it is nowhere near instant read, but I don't see that as a problem for a pool thermometer) and went back inside, the receiver was showing the same temp. The units are probably anywhere from 50-80 feet apart, depending on it's drift in the pool, and were still communicating. If anything bad happens with it I'll update the review.

After charging these, they turned on and synched really quickly and accurately. It was easy to setup the date and time on them. They are very user friendly. I enjoy that the indoor thermometer part can be kept in the house to check on the temperature without having to go outside. It can either stand on its own little kickstand or can be hung on the wall with a small screw. The floating light portion has a loop on the side of it so it can be anchored to the side of the pool with a little rope (The product did not include the rope though). I also like that it cycles through the lights to make the pool look pretty in the evening. The color is RBG, the photos of the product make it seem like there are more options for colors and also that it would display multiple colors at the same time, this is inaccurate. This was the only thing I was displeased with. The settings for the lights are as follows:-Off/No Light display-Slow Fade through the 3 colors-Fast blink through the 3 colors-Solid Red-Solid Blue-Solid Green

This was very easy to set up and use. The in-pool portion just needed the on/off button pressed. The indoor monitoring unit set up is more involved than that, if you care about the time and date being set, but still straightforward and a brief manual is supplied.I pop the thermometer in the pool after turning it and the remote on and whole setup including the remote monitor just works. Sweet.

So far, so good. The remote temp gauge is reading the pool temp from about 30-40 feet and holding the signal. As you can see in the pics, the pool temp is the larger number on top and the room temp and humidity is below that. I haven’t yet set the time and date. This is exactly what I wanted before I decide to jump in, or even before I walk outside. Overall, a nice setup. I’m hoping it lasts!

The inside remote worked well but the outside remote didn't work even after two days in direct sunlight. The outside digital display never did light up so it was worthless? It was returned.
