I replaced my John Deere Backhoe/Loader ignition switch last year using an OEM part from the manufacturer. It lasted less than a year before corrosion froze it up. I replaced it with this aftermarket one which looks identical but was less expensive and has lasted even out in the weather. I’m keeping this in mind as you should, too.

I used this to replace the ignition switch on an old John Deere tractor. Worked well. No issues. Easy to install. Recommend? Yes.

It fit my 96 310d just fine. Seemed a little stiff at first but loosened up after a few turns. I’d recommend turning it and loosening it up before installing.

Installed as expected and seemed fine, but after only a few (maybe 6-7?) times using the tractor with this switch the switch stuck in the "start" position after cranking the tractor. I could not get the switch to turn AT ALL from this position so I had to pull the fuel switch fuse to shut the tractor down before it cooked the starter. I guess ya get what ya pay for... STAY AWAY FROM THIS ONE!
