Deer love it, they love feeding from it. Awesome for us bringing in the deer. Hunting season opener is just days away.

Out of the box, it’s a thinner construction steel with a black power coating throughoutThe three dispense trays and legs mount with provided bolts and the reservoir has two welded handles and a single latch with opposing hinge. After a month of use, it does a trick but definitely has some flaws. For starters, there are multiple points of surface rust throughout but primarily at the handles and hinge. Secondly, it gets knocked over easily, which causes the feed to spill given the single latch – for smart racoons, this has caused some frustration and required me to screw on 4 hooks to allow for a cross-attached bungee system to keep the lid closed but also had to get creative by adding boards to the bases and weights to keep everything standing longer than 1 night. Lastly, outside of the holes where the legs attach, there is nothing for keeping the air flow and the feed dry – I had to add some holes to prevent moldOverall, it works but its far from perfect. If this is a setup close to home that you can access easily, it’ll work but for anything that takes time to get to – modifications are required to ensure success and longevity.

Well designed and solidly built. Easy to set up, it holds the weight of corn it claims and keeps what's in the hopper dry.I would put something under it, because when the soil gets soft after a rain the weight will likely cause the legs to dig into the ground. It's solid enough to hold up to wild deer, no question there, but other animals, especially farm animals, might be a bit aggressive for it.I like the latches that hold the lid on, as they should help reduce the chance of it being knocked open if it gets knocked over.

While this reindeer dispenser is attractive for your yard. And fairly sturdy for regular use for deer. I am hesitant to put this into an open area where bear might decide to have a nibble. The body is fairly robust and has decent gauge metal, powder coated and ready for the weather. And the lid portion flips completely out of the way when open. While licking tightly with clasp when closed. Although the feeder comes with large lag bolts or tapcon style screws, the legs are plenty strong enough to hold the full container. But a frustrated bear may not be as gentle as obtaining the food as deer are. A low risk maybe. But a curiosity I am sure to find out. And I hope it holds up well. Because this is a nice feeder for more than deer. So as I find out how it holds up, I will update accordingly.

One of the main reasons I ordered this feed is because of the overall height of it being shorter than most. This makes it so much easier to poor in the feed. I don't need a ladder, nor do I have to disassemble any parts to add more when needed. That being said, the low feeder trays also make it very easy for animals other than deer to access the feed. My solution to this was to use three fairly short metal poles whose inside diameter was slightly larger than the outside diameter of the feeder's feet. This allows me to raise the feeder just enough to keep out most of the unwanted eaters while still giving me fairly easy access to reload the feeder.I appreciate the water proofing that went into the design of this feeder. The small holes on the bottom of the feeder trays is something I have had to drill before in other feeders. I would also recommend not letting the feeder get too low on feed. While this hasn't happened to me yet, I can imagine a nice buck getting a little frustrated if his tray runs out of corn. I could very easily see him butting it over and possible damaging it trying to get more feed out.I might add, I wouldn't use this feeder where bears are common. I'm not sure it could withstand the thrashing of a hungry bear.

It will work but not the greatest can get a better ome at bass pro for a little more the handles allow the feed to get wet everytime it rains and start building up mold and mildew so instead of a deer feeder I built some attachments closed areas off and made it for a chicken feeder

I found this to be easy to assemble and just the right size. I don’t have bears in my area and have no worries about it getting destroyed by them so there was never a need to have a feeder way up in the air. This is perfect. Light and easy to lug out into the woods. The only thing i needed to do was splash some camo paint onto it.

The best thing about this is it is cheap, and doesn’t need any maintenance on electronics. You set it up, and keep it filled. Simple. It would be nice to be slightly more sturdy as far as metal thickness, but hey, at this price, it’s not an issue! Time will tell how weather resistant it is. Again, for the price, I’d just get another one in a couple years, it’s about the same price as replacing a motor for an electric feeder.

The feeder using the supplied legs is way too short. However when mounting on a steel fence post it works well. The best part is that It is metal and the squirrels can’t eat it

I know you are in your mind imagining this being something very large by the listing saying "128 LB Large" but actually it's not size wise. It's under 3 ft tall without the legs on. But it is designed to hold the weight advertised. But, with that weight and the small pads on the legs in soft ground you may have a tip over problem is soft ground after a rain with mud. So you may want to plan on getting some floor tiles or wood to put on the ground first then this on top of them. This feeder can be used for much more than just deer of course which is what I want to do with it. I have deer on my property all the time winter through summer so enticing them to a spot is not a problem. But having to constantly refill the small pellet feeder for my chickens is, and this will be a perfect solution holding a big 40lb bag easily without using the tall legs and putting on bricks. The construction of this unit is pretty good, and assembly real easy too. So if you are using it only seasonally it is just as easy to disassemble and put back in the box if you want to conserve storage space or transport space. It is a good product for what you get or compared to time involved on a DIY project with time it would take against the low price of this unit.
