Pure white backer boards are perfect for their intended purpose when framing artwork or photographs which is what I'm using them for but you could certainly use them for many more things too. I also use them as stiffeners behind photographs that are inserted into clear plastic sleeves.

I ordered this Somime 10 Pack Backing Boards, 8x10 Uncut White Mats Matboards, Acid-Free Backerboards for Art Prints to use for backing 5x7 matted cyanotypes in an 8x10 frame.Cyanotypes are different from photographs as they prefer an acidic environment whereas photographs need to be protected from acid. These backer boards are advertised as acid-free, but it is only the surface that meets this standard -- the core is not acid free. This is a disadvantage for photographic use (either silver gelatin or inkjet) but a plus for cyanotypes.These backer boards are stiffer than I would expect for their thickness. They are sized accurately and fit well into an 8x10 frame. They are thin enough to allow use even in very inexpensive thin frames.
