33MP back-illuminated CMOS full-frame sensor
Copper wiring contributes to higher transmission speeds and faster AD (analogue to digital) conversion. Fast sensor readout enables 10-bit 4:2:2 4K recording up to 60p. The sensor also provides improved color reproducibility, low-noise performance, 15+stop dynamic range and increased AF speed.
BIONZ XR image processor up to 8x processing speed
The BIONZ XR engine, also used in the Sony Alpha 1 and Alpha 7S III models, provides up to an 8x increase in processing speed. The engine concentrates real-time processing of AF, image recognition and image quality adjustment to minimize processing latency for greatly increased processing power.
4K 60p recording and 4:2:2 10-bit recording
Full pixel readout without binning allows 4K 60p recording in Super 35 mode providing high-resolution smooth footage that can be edited to 2x and 2.5x slow-motion when rendered to 30p or 24p in post-production, and 4K 24p or 30p full pixel readout without binning in full-frame with 7K oversampling.
Beautiful color expression, with S-Cinetone
The Alpha 7 IV supports S-Cinetone, based on expertise gained through development of the VENICE CineAlta professional cinema camera line. It delivers natural mid-tones for healthy-looking skin color, plus soft colors and gorgeous highlights.
Real-time Eye-AF for humans, animals, and birds
The high speed of the latest image BIONZ XR processing engine provides a significant boost to Real-time Eye AF performance, even when the subject is looking up, down, or sideways. It is also possible to use Touch Tracking to initiate Real-time Tracking of any subject in the frame.
Fast Hybrid AF with improved speed and tracking
759 phase-detection AF points and 425 contrast-detection AF points with a wide coverage of roughly 94% of the image area for both stills and movie. This vast collection of data is analyzed in real time by the latest powerful BIONX XR processing engine to achieve the AF system's impressive results.

I have had this camera for almost 2 years now and I couldn’t be more thrilled with this camera. Picture quality is great in both Photo and Video. I got this camera before my son was born and since then I have captured so many wonderful memories.

I have the Sony a7riii and the Sony a7ii. But after renting this Sony A7 IV, I am ready to trade them both in for this camera. Amazon seems to have the best prices for it.My main reason for wanting this camera is the tracking of fast moving objects. The A7 IV barely keeps up with anything that is in motion. The A7 riii, does a better job, but drops the subject if it is not on center, most of the time.This A7IV, locks onto it and holds it.

Did my homework and read so many reviews and hoped to get full order, some items like most people said were missing. It wasn’t too bad but still not okay…Didn’t get dual charger, received some cheap charger (for only one battery) and it takes 8 + hours to fully charge. Had to order new charger.Camera at least is new, and most items was there.Couldn’t give 5 stars 🙃

I have had this camera for over a year and any time I have tried to download firmware or any other update it is a long and cumbersome process which is often not successful. With this camera you cannot download firmware updates by connecting the camera to a computer (like other companies). Instead a customer has to print 10 pages of instructions and still the upgrade is not successful. After spending so much for this camera and lens it is clear to me that the quality of this camera does not match the quality that I found in previous Canon cameras. And the Sony Camera webpage is not user friendly, it is intrusive and does not seem concerned about customer satisfaction. IF I HAD TO DO THIS ALL OVER I NEVER WOULD HAVE PURCHASED A SONY CAMERA.

Got this broken tripod sent to me, I don’t know how to get in contact with the seller so I hope they reach out. I haven’t tried out the camera yet since my lens gets here another day but everything looks good so far.

I have had this camera since launch day. As of this review, I have 350,114 clicks on it. Shutter died a little over 2 weeks ago. I have the Sony Protect plus warranty so it’s being fixed. It has been a phenomenal camera when paired with G and GM lenses. A major improvement over my a7R iii and a7iii. Debating on buying a second.Firmware updates are rather quick and simple. Download firmware file, copy to SD or CF Express card, go to System info and choose update.My only issue is the newer firmware doesn’t play nice with wireless tethering all of the time and the Sony camera apps are terrible.
