I love these filters to protect my lenses, and RX1. I have tested these Sony/Zeiss filters and found that they have no noticeable effect on my images. I have bought several of these Zeiss MPAM filters from warehouse deals over the years. They have all been perfect.

I have one on all my lenses. They are expensive, but you don't know it's there and I would rather have to replace a filter than the lens.

I use in my NEX-5 camera and It works very well and protect the lens that it is important in order to take a good pictures.

I bought this protector from Sony store, which asks $10 more than Amazon. This is the Sony official MC protector designed for NEX E-mount lens. I am quite satisfied with its fine manufacture and high optical quality. I would say it is a good choice for NEX users, especially when you are not sure which UV filter fits well for your 49mm lens.

This was my first lens protector for my SONY DSC-RX1 lens and I am extremely pleased with its fit and finish. There is no image degradation whatsoever. What I like best about it is that the bayonet mount for the RX one can still be used on top of this lens protector. In fact I even use my neutral density filter or my polarizer filter right on top of the basic protector and I can still use the bayonet mount and still with no image degradation. 100% recommended!

First, I think it is pretty important that I mention that I am not a photography pro. That means a couple things: I only buy consumer grade equipment and I may have what I consider high standards but they are certainly not >$1k equipment standards.That said, this filter does what I got it to do, it protects my modest NEX kit lens. As a newbie, I'm pretty impressed by the optical quality of the filter. It's as if it isn't there at all. It screws on nicely with no wiggle, the machining is precise and after it's on you can forget it is even there.I think you can screw on another filter over this one as well, the threads look like they are there (to be able to put a lens cap on over it after all) but I haven't actually tried that.
