AIS adapters are extremely hard to find, so I was excited to see that JJC had one available. However, excitement turned to disappointment quickly. The adapter will not tighten down onto the Sony HDR Camcorder Shoe, nor will it tighten up sufficiently on an an accessory such as a video light. Save your money.

lo puse en mi cámara y ya no lo he quitado, y hasta este momento me ha servido exactamente para lo que fue comprado.

It seems to be a good product and holds up decently. I must admit I was a bit confused on how to place it upon my cameras hot shoe, so much so I was worried I had purchased the wrong adapter. However, after I realized my mistake, it fit fine and works like a charm. I am afraid it won't hold up under a ton of stress and usage, but as it wasn't "that expensive" and will take it as it is.

I was thrilled to find this as I wanted to attach a monitor on top of my Camcorder. It attached but it was not very secure. A short while after attaching the monitor, the adaptor snapped in half! This happened while the monitor didn't have a battery so it was lighter. This gizmo is a failed attempt at a needed item for those with older camcorders with the AIS shoe but needing a universal shoe mount for accessories. I have just purchased the Pearstone SSA-3 which I hope is better. I was refunded promptly for my return.

Fragile. Ne reste pas en place sur caméra Sony. Ne faut pas y toucher sinon ça dévisse.

When I first tried to use this with several standard hot shoe items (Nikon flash, Sony microphone, etc.), they did not fit in this adapter unless I forced them. The outer metal flanges of this adapter were bent inward just a bit at their tops, making the dimension between the two sides too narrow for anything but a force fit of accessories.Rather than go through the hassle of returning this item, I used a small Phillips screwdriver to remove the eight screws holding the adapter together, carefully used a vise and pliers to straighten the flanges, creating about an extra millimeter of width between the inner sides of the metal bracket, and then put it back together. Now hot shoe accessories slide in and out easily and sit stably on my Canon camcorder, as expected. It seems likely that quality control was insufficient on the item I received. It's okay now, after correction. Your mileage may vary.

Just wanted to be able to mount a 'standard' mount, holding a microphone, on the camcorder. Took a bit of fiddling to find the tiny little unlock button that allows you to slide it in place, but once I did it slid on and stays on firmly.

I had ordered another adapter product at twice this one's price that has a tightening ring in the center and is therefore really tall. And well I can't find it. I figured that all of these adapters would just be sitting in there with friction. I was wrong. This one snaps in and has a little lever you have to raise to take it out. Thus making this the perfect small, firm-fitting, well-priced adapter I should have gotten in the first place.

Giving it two stars because it might work for someone else. Bought it for a Sony HDR -CX580V. But:1) the shoe of this adapter is slightly too thick to fit snugly in the camera's on board AIS shoe. It can be inserted in my camera's shoe but it will not move forward to snap in place.2) The knurled wheel used to tighten the MSA-2 is too large and overlaps the camera's AIS shoe cover when it is folded backward.. This prevents the user from tightening the MSA-2, and it and any object attached to it will soon fall off and probably break. This situation would happen even if the MAS-2 was installed in its correct position..A good idea which might work for someone with a different camera model.

This device works perfectly on my Canon Vixia HF 500 video camera. I didn't want to spend money on the Canon external mic, since I already have a good shotgun mic, but mine has a Universal Hot Shoe, which doesn't fit the Canon Vixia's Mini-Shoe. This adaptor's modest price allows me to use my mic. It's well constructed and does the job admirably.

I've bought previous Cowboy Studio products, and they make some pretty good camera accessories that I get quite a bit of use out of. I had previously bought a universal shoe mount adapter for my Sony HDR-Cx560v camcorder, and it eventually broke on me, it was very cheaply made. That one was a different brand(Phototiv), so I thought I would try the Cowboy Studio version. So far it's a very solid construction over the other one I had, it fits very securely into the Active shoe slot of my camera, and the screw mount tightens up very well and there's no chance of it slipping out. I tried using some of my different accessories like my Rode Stereo Shotgun mic, my Sony HVL-20W2 camera light, and my Sony field monitor. It held all three in place with no shake or rattle. I have to say it feels like its apart of my camera rather than an add on. It's colored in black so it matches my camera very well.Overall, if you have to get a Universal adaptor, I would suggest getting the Cowboy studio version. It's got a better grade of plastic and its better constructed, it feels much tighter and I feel it could handle accessories in the outdoors fairly well. And for the price, it's worth it compared to some that might be cheaper, because that's what you're getting. So in the long run, paying a few dollars more will pay off for the right equipment in your camera gear.
