I put a few of these in over th years and always had issues with the gauge. Float issues. I used Spectra and it is nuts on. So I used it again on another Third Gen Camaro. Nuts on. This is such a chore to do (89 IROC).

The lines coming off the sender aren't quite as long as they should be/as long as factory. Easy enough to work around, I just used a longer piece of rubber fuel hose for the return and evap lines. The metal feed line can still be connected but you will have to lightly bend the lines on both the car and sender to close the gap. Electrical is all direct fit, sender reads perfectly, fuel pump fit like oem and plugged right it, it would almost be perfect if they could have gotten the line length right.

Almost identical to the original, great replacement part due to the fact that original is discontinued.

I replaced the fuel sending unit in my car with this one. The old unit was reading fine but the lines were rusty and pitted so I decided to replace it when the fuel pump went out. I wish I would have kept the old one in the tank. Now full is between 3/4 and half and when the gauge reads empty the tank still has 5 gallons left. The old unit may have been rusty and pitted but at least full was full and empty was empty on my gas gauge.

I had started the adventure of replacing this item in my 1991 Camaro with a lesser expensive item from eBay. Not much less, maybe $30, but I quickly found out how expensive that could be.The issue I had with the lesser expensive sending unit was the tank level sending unit. It was slightly off (extended further forward), maybe about 1/4" and was hitting the side of the fuel tank. This was very hard to predict and I missed it while installing the first unit. The Spectra unit was just a much better unit. The float is smaller and in the right place and the kit in general was well done. Yes it came the complete kit and all was great quality.I would not go after a different sender unless you want to pull that tank out twice. Get the Spectra.A few other key areas to consider: The gasket was the right size, installing was very easy and there was no issue getting the pump in place and getting the sending unit in the tank. It also had the rubber surround/holder around the exterior tube that was correct like the original one.If I where to be critical, the only thing that might be slightly and I mean slightly different is the length of the tubes past the pends where just a bit shorter than the original. Was not at all an issue, but was slightly different.

The unit came very nicely packaged, and with all the necessary installation components needed to complete the job. (clamps, o ring tank seal, sending unit seal, locking ring and even new pump screen.Problem #1, with fuel systems that use a fuel pump pulsator/dampener, won't be a problem if one is not used or you eliminate it.On the sending unit,(the part inside the tank) the distance between the end of the supply tube and the bottom pad where the pump sits on, is 1/2" longer than the factory one. With the pump properly sitting on the base, and the pulsator pushed snug on the pump, the other end of the pulsator is barley over the supply tube. Yes, you can eliminate the pulsator and just use hose and not have any issues. But for those doing repairs professionally AND those the have integrity and take pride in their work, eliminating it is not really an option. The modification. The problem was the return tube. (this is the tube that has the fuel pump base welded to it). The pipe was not bent the same as the factory one. After some careful manipulation, we managed to make the bends a bit sharper. This action of course decreased the distance giving us the 1/2" we needed.Problem 2#The 3 pin connector would not plug into the car. It was immediately discovered that 2 of the 3 male pins were not centered in the connector. This prevented proper alignment for the plug to be connected. One pin was not even locked in, it was pushing out the back side. We removed the pins for closer inspection. YIKES! They were so fragile that in a simple attempt to straighten one it broke. Well, we still had the one from the old unit so we spliced it in - worked fine.In the end the unit works good. Now some of you might be asking, why I didn't return it for an exchange or a refund? Well, we were on tight deadline and didn't have time to wait another day. But the biggest reason was this was already the second one with the same issues. The first Spectra unit came from national parts retailer. After the second, we believed it may have been a wide spread production run issue. We notified Spectra about the issues.

Replaced my broken sending unit in my 1988 IROC-Z. The unit is well finished and has a slightly different ground location which is an improvement over the stock unit as it will allow you to change the sending unit without replacing the whole assembly if it were to break in the future. It came with everything you could need, new sleve for the fuel pump, new sock, new o-ring for the sock, new gas tank seal with o-ring, and a small section of fuel line to replace the fuel pulsator. I tested the sending unit before installing and it works correctly ranging from 0-90 with 0 being empty and 90 being full on the fuel guage. We will see how the sending unit holds up with time, but it looks to be of good quality. Would recomend to anyone who needs a new sending unit.
