Square braid wicks were originally designed for the viscosity of beeswax candles, however, they can still be used for soy and paraffin creations as well. Our square braid wicks are unprimed (raw) and untabbed. Our candle wicks need to be primed with the wax of your choice prior to use. Test burning candles using various wick sizes is recommended to determine the right size wick for your particular application. Total wick length is 10 yards. Each candle making situation is unique. There are many things to consider, from wax types and purity to the material the container is made of. Our recommendations are a simple suggestion to get started. Due to many variables when it comes to products such as this, only experimentation with different configurations will produce desired results.
The first burn of a candle is important in setting the pace for how the candle will burn every other time that it's lit. When you light your candle for the very first time, make sure that it burns long enough to melt the wax all the way to the outer edge. This may take several hours. The general rule of thumb is to let the candle burn for approximately an hour per every inch of diameter. It's also important to not overtrim the wick length every time the candle is lit. A wick that's trimmed too short will not allow the candle to burn hot enough and may cause tunneling. A wick that is not trimmed far enough could cause the candle to burn too hot and may cause smoking.

I make homemade beeswax/coconut oil blend candles. Works great for my 50/50 blend with a container with an opening of 2.75in. Nothing bigger than that though. If I were to do just beeswax then I would need a much bigger size. Arrived on time. I prewax them for 5 minutes per wick and sends to burn very well. Have to trim them every 2 hours or so while burning.

Loved that this product didn't have a metal bottom. Worked out perfectly for my need. Was able to cut them to size. Burned very well with no smoke.

YES, this is exactly the type of of wick you use for Beeswax candles. Works so well! Be sure you are getting the right # (size) wick for the diameter of your candle... look for sizing charts online.
