The frame, wheel, and axle are plated steel. There is not any stainless steel in this pulley. There are also no bearings in the wheel. It spins directly on the plated steel axle. The frame is tack welded to the mounting plate. The axle is solid and stout, and is swedged into the frame like a steel rivet.Out of the box these pulleys stick, grind, and squeak. All but one of the product photos are CAD drawings, not actual photos of the product.I did not return these because they are suitable for my need. What I like is the minimum clearance between the wheel and frame, which does not allow a cord to jump off and jam.I oiled them with 30W motor oil and they smoothed out. My application requires five pounds of force and about 16 inches of rope travel, slowly, once or twice a month. These will hold up fine for that.My 1-star rating is because these pulleys are not in any way (other than dimensions) as described.

I used there pulley blocks to guide a light pullchain, they worked fine but we're heavy duty for this application. Installed recently and they show no signs of tarnish.

My husband made pulleys for the bird feeders do the deer couldn't knock the seed out of them and the neighbors chickens ate it all up .I think they were working together on this but now they can't reach them and I can lower them to fill the feeders

I have a simple application, a piece of cording tied to the garage door, through the pulley and to a tennis ball. When the garage door opens, the ball lowers and you backup trying to hit the camera lens on the ball. When the garage door closes the ball rises back up to the ceiling so you can open the hatch back and unload.Note put a stop (washer) on the cord so that the ball stops at a specific drop point.

The connection between the wheel holder and the base is just two small weld point, I don’t think it’s able to hold 175 lbs. luckily I don’t need it hold that much.
