I have a cheap Char broil H2O smoker. The heating element went out so I bought this to replace it. It wasn't a perfect fit but close enough. It regulates the temperature perfectly.

Char broil like so many manufacturers change parts in their products willy hilly every few years. Therefore they no longer sold this part despite selling a near indentical smoker. Not to be cynical, but it appears to be forced obsolescence. I bought this generic one in my 5 year old smoker and it works lije a champ. Half the price of the official one at that.

It works very well. I have very small smoker . Bought to replace electric coil. It puts out tremendous heat so I must be careful to not go more than half the heat control, and check every hour on progress or items will burn to a crisp. So it is powerful. Go low and slow, even if light does not come on at lowest setting.. it is still d as round 95 degrees and up to 450 .. so this is made for a much larger smoker. But is doable as a replacement for my use. I am happy with this purchase as there was noth else on the market.

Gets super hot really quick and holds the temperature steady. Little bigger than the original but with a little patience it's awesome. I didn’t want to buy a new smoker over this.

I ordered this product to replace my aging smoker (manufactured by another brand) which to date worked well but the heating unit stopped functioning after many years of service. What I didn't realize was that the replacement heater's plug base (which is rectangular in shape) did not match my existing smokers' circular plug entry base. The resulted in some maneuvering and ultimate cutting of the metal base of the smoker. This is the only reason I gave the 'easy to install' category 4 starts instead of 5. Otherwise, I absolutely prefer this new heating element as it offers an adjustable temperature control dial versus my old element which only offered an on/off setting. I tried out the new element immediately after installation to a wonderful result. I also prefer its detached plug option from the heating element to protect it from the elements when not in use.

It worked very well! It was a little on the large side for our Smoke Hollow smoker, but some retrofitting and it worked great. In fact it heated up in half the time and we actually had to take measures to stop it from getting too warm.It’s been a couple months now and we haven’t had any issues.

The good, easy install. The bad is that it cannot heat a smoker over 205, making it worthless for long, slow smokes. Big mistake.

I bought this to be the heating element in my cerakote oven I built. I find it works but wish it put out a little more heat which may simply be that I should have bought a larger unit for the size oven I built. The oven is about a 27" cube made of 1/4" steel so its pretty large and has a lot of metal to heat but even with all that it still gets about 265 degrees. I would think that in a smoker grill where it actually belongs it should do just fine. You will want to have a thermometer to go with it though because the heat control is only a dial from low to high without any temp settings (makes sense in my application). Overall I'm quite happy with it and would recommend you give this item a look.
