This cymbal stand is made poorly. Boom doesn't tighten up. Very unsatisfied.

First for transparency I bought a twin pack of these same exact cymbal boom stands but making a review here as they're still available individually. These are great stands very sturdy and stable when set up. However, there is one area that could be improved regarding the elbow joint that the boom passes thru. When I was initially setting these up I was having difficulty tightening the wingnuts so the clamp would hold the boom without it slipping. The culprit is the wing nut was grinding against the elbow socket housing eventually getting into a bind.I hope Awagas will take notes here. The solution I found was to take two 1/4 inch washers to fill the socket space so the wing nut cannot enter the cavity to get bound up again. I put those additional washers between the housing and the original washer on the outside followed by the wing nut. See photos I hope they illustrate it better than my words. Now I can tighten the elbow and feel it clamping on to the boom smoothly and securing it firm. Essentially fixing these to perfection at their price point.Other thoughts: I've read in a review that this was just a regular stand as if it lacks a boom. I don't think they realized the boom is housed within the vertical tube and has to be pulled up and out the tube before it can tilt the boom clamp and position the boom where needed. Conclusion these are a terrific value and actually seem beefier than the standard cymbal stand that came with my Ludwig Accent kit. I have them pictured side by side and appear to have thicker metal and is also overall heavier. I have no reason to doubt these will hold up just fine for their intended use. Keep in mind my washer trick and you'll have zero issues with the elbow's clamping ability.

It appears that the ad is for bothebthe stand and cymbal...not just the stand alone.

I found this stand to be your standard cymbal stand. No easy features for convenience. Kind of a rough look to them but they can get the job done. Possibly good for beginners.
