Well package starter solenoid replaced original on Scotts S1642 lawn tractor. The OEM part lasted 25 years - hoping this one lasts that long.

From experience, I have found starter solenoids to be a high wear item on lawn tractors.I don't know if that's just my bad luck or endemic across the line.However, this arrived promptly, fit perfectly and solved my problem.It's been on for months with no issue.

Cub Cadet wanted $30 for a solenoid. This was a third the price and works perfectly. Installed in less than an hour though that was mostly due to the placement of the solenoid by the manufacturer.

While it can be made to work, this solenoid does not have the same mount or orientation as the OEM part.The attached picture is of the original. I had to drill a new hole in the mower for the second mounting screw, and re-orient the wires. It does, after the mounting issue, function. For the price as compared to the OEM solenoid, it does seem worth the extra effort.
