My 14yr old son takes an MMA class and one of the events they offer at tournaments is padded sword sparring. These are the same ones their dojo uses and they get used often and hold up well. Granted they are being used by discipline kids that aren't just trying to pulverize each other with reckless abandon but are using them for actual padded sword fights with quick strikes. I bought this pair for my son and friend to practice at home prior to the tournament and also while at the tournament, they loved it

My son had a cool looking set of padded swords that had hard plastic hand-guards. He loved to play with them and they looked like real swords, but the ends broke pretty quickly, and the hand guards hurt like heck if they smack you in the hand, which happens a lot.I bought these to replace those old swords and they are awesome! They are much sturdier, even with pretty intense action. The handles are hard, which is good for grip and control, but the handguards are foam, so no more rapped knuckles.The foam is pretty dense. It's not just pool-noodle foam. I think the core is PVC, but it seems pretty strong and rigid. There have been a lot of hard hits and they are holding up just fine.The weight is pretty good too. They are easy to swing and balance, but not so light that you can just whip them all over at lightning speed. They also aren't so heavy that they will leave bruises on hard hits. I've seen my son and his friends whack each-other in the head multiple times and they just keep right on going.

Purchased these training swords for a very rowdy 5 year old who swings a little too hard with other foam and plastic toy swords.They’re very durable, but there has been a slight amount of tearing and bending with the foam. The foam is also soft enough for full contact if people were to use these for actual sparring. Too short to be proper shinai/kendo practice sword replacements for adults, but a decent starting set for kids and you don’t have to worry about them hurting each other or snapping the swords in half.

The quality of the swords are great, it's a good product. But they are nowhere near the listed weight' much MUCH lighter. For us it's a downside, might be an upside for you.

My 14yr old loves play fighting and sparring. Anything to keep him off the computer or Playstation. This has entertained him for hours on end since we've gotten them. Very sturdy and strong product. Also the foam keeps the kids from seriously injuring each other lol. They've been wailing on them too with no damage so far to the actual swords so I totally recommend this product 100%

This is an AWESOME PRODUCT! We've had lots of fun practicing with these while taking them to the Mideval Times experience here in Arizona! They safe, extremely well made and most importantly of all FUN!At this price they are a steal!

My kids and husband use these every night! They love to play fight and these hold up and while they do hurt, it’s a lot better than plastic! Weight is great and I feel they are well made. We are actually thinking about getting more as the adults want to use them too!Update 09/07/2022They are bent now but still fully functional. The dogs have attacked them, we use them almost every night. I am amazed that they have held up still. I will post a video soon. These have no right holding up to the torture we’ve put them through. One thing I will say though. Even though I consider myself a martial artist and did kendo when I was younger, there will be some level of annoyance getting attacked when walking in the door after work by two foam swords. These can hurt. But take a deep breath before walking in the door and grab a sword and fight/wrestle.
