The pizza steel is much better than a pizza stone. It makes the pizza very crispy. It is very heavy though.

I ordered this 14" pizza steel by mistake. It did arrive quickly and I was able to exchange it for the 16 x 16 pizza steel. That said as others mentioned is heavy duty. I followed directions, watched a few videos on seasoning the steel. Once that was done, I've only baked 3 pizzas so far, but the results were better than I had expected, and it cooked the pizza faster than I realized. Many on their reviews had mentioned that so I had the same experience and results. Do some research, not all ovens heat the same so you will need to experiment a bit. If you heat it to 500+ degrees for 45 minutes to an hour as suggested ( of course after you've seasoned it initially ) my experience has been a fresh pizza with homemade or store bought pizza dough will take about 7-9 minutes. Our pizzas have come out of the oven hot and the bottom of the crust crispy but not too hard. My next pie I'm going to brush butter or olive oil around the edges of the pie and sprinkle some grated parmesan cheese or garlic to flavor the crust some. The clean up is a snap too I just wipe it with a dry paper towel after it cools which takes a long time as it retains heat for hours. Make sure you measure your oven before buying the 16 x 16 so you have enough room and just be careful of how long it remains hot before you try to remove it from your oven.

Albeit heavy and something you wouldn’t want to drop on anything, or the time it takes to cool down, I have no fear of this cracking like my pizza stone did. Easy to clean. Works well our oven at 550 degrees will get our pizza done in about 6 minutes. I haven’t used with frozen pizzas at this time.

Works very well. Conditioned it and let it rest for a day. You only need a light coating of oil to condition it. Holds the heat very well. Makes a perfect crisp crust. Great value.

I love this pizza steel! It makes the crispiest, most delicious crust. I preheat it for about an hour before I put my pizza on it. I used it the first time and made 2 pizzas. The first one on this steel and the second one on my old pizza stone. The difference was clear. The stone's crust was softer and the steel crust was just crispy and sturdy. I won't be using the stone for pizza anymore! It's heavy, it stays in my oven and I use the paddle to transfer the pizza to the hot steel. I am very happy I made this purchase!

My biggest complaint is not about the product at all, just wish it was larger. Absolutely a joy to make pizza on so far, it's really upped my pizza game. Now if only my oven reached 900 degrees.This works exceptionally well compared to a pizza stone. Just be cautious and don't get it wet for more than 10 seconds or it'll rust. Follow the steps to season it when you first get it, then maintain just like any cast iron pan. Occasionally rubbed with oil and heated to maintain the surface.Hopefully this will last forever because I love it.

Product is fine. Bought this after buying Cooking With Steel cookbook.Pro: High quality, heavy steel cooking stone. Easy to clean. No food sticks to surface.Con: Very heavy. Awkward to store if you don’t want to leave in oven (for storage).I make pizza and I’ve moved away from using the steel because I hate the transfer process from wood pizza peel to the very hot steel stone. Using pizza trays are much easier and produce far better results for me. Not the stones fault, I just can’t embrace the ‘transfer’ process.

I wish I had bought a large size but this does the job just fine. I did wash it with water first and then heat it first before using it to cook the first pizzas. But once those first pizzas went in the oven, it was easy to see a difference in how they were cooking. The edges got crispier immediately and the bottom got darker and crispier than it has ever been with the pizza stone.If you have only been cooking with a pizza stone - you need to consider switching.

After 3 stones….I had a choice either to stop eating pizzas on cracking stones or try something DIFFERENT!! This STEEL is amazing…crank up your oven or Pizza oven to the MAX…and enjoy a crisp crust without the shy looking DIRTY stone that your friends doubt the clenliness. Your pizza will be ready in less than 10 minutes and taste great….Cleaning…IS A WALK IN DA !….I will buy a second one for my lodge!!!

Las piedras no transfieren el calor tan bien en hornos de casa, y los hornos normales no calientan lo suficiente como para dejar la base de la pizza como en las pizzerías.Vi mejores resultados con el acero que con la piedra. Además mi piedra se me rompió al tercer uso y está se ve que va a durar toda la vida.

Just like wood-oven pizza…delicious. We’ll be using this anytime we make homemade pizza now. It was a bit tricky getting the pizza on the steel, we used flour…next time we’ll try corn meal. Definitely a great buy!!! You will not regret it!
