Easy to use and very clean cut

Because this has a flat spot on the side of the bit, I found it difficult to center in my drill press. It was off-center initially and I had to keep spinning it in the chuck and retightening to get it centered. Way too much effort and it could slip and be off-center again if the chuck is not tight enough. Also, the shaft is very short and I found it hard to get the bit close to my work using the drill press with a table top and small fence setup. A longer shaft would have made it easier for sure, but the real issue was the flat spot on the shaft.

I purchased this to drill holes for Blum hinges in the maple frames of my new kitchen cabinet doors. I've used Forstener-type bits before (which this isn't) and was moderately satisfied. But, this Steelex bit drills the cleanest holes I have ever seen. I used the bit in a drill press; with those spurs, I doubt if this could be handheld. The bottom cutters made smooth clean shavings like a small plane. The finished holes were a glove fit for the hinges, even after slight overspray on the sides of some of the holes. I made a simple jig to position the doors on my drill press, and drilled 44 holes. The last holes showed no deterioration in the bit. I'm sure it could do many hundreds of holes. Very satisfied with this purchase.

This is a very good drill bit. I am making raised panel doors and this bit is staying sharp and cuts very smooth. Highly recommend.

A lot of these clock inserts come with a rubber ring around them instead of the normal mounting tabs.this 35mm bit is just enough larger to making mounting the insert a breeze.
