I was looking for the direct Kohler replacement oil filter for my Spring tune-up on the Cub Cadet XT2. I reviewed my previous Amazon purchases and found I had ordered this one previously. I was concerned as it indicated "Stens" but pictures showed "Kohler". Given the pics and my previous purchase I gave it a shot and sure enough everything appeared correct. It shipped simply in Amazon bubble mailer and did not have a box for the filter, just a round clear plastic cover for the side that connects to the mower. Sticker on the filter indicates Stens but branding on the filter itself does appear to be genuine Kohler as was the one being replaced. Went on easy and no issues with using as should.

Definitely less $$ than the Kohler OEM oil filter, which runs over $20. The oil filter had the "Kohler" decal on it. Overall, the filter is slightly shorter than the OEM filter but fits like a glove...same diameter. Recommend hand-tightening only...go just shy of a full turn after the rubber gasket makes contact with the engine housing. Always rub some oil on the rubber gasket before installing. I generally fill the filter 1/2 full with fresh new oil as best practice...though whether you fill the filter with fresh oil or not, before installation, will not likely cause any issues. Perfectly good oil filter replacement.

Fit perfectly...... and was very surprised at the price I paid. Living in a rural area with no major outlets or big box stores for shopping, prices can be steep. I saved $9.00 buying through Amazon compared to the exact filter that was at my local tractor retailer. Don't forget to get a new air filter, spark plug and fuel line filter while you're at it. Amazon carries all of those at excellent prices.

Filter fits well, seems smaller than original, doesn't seem to have much media inside. Cost seems a little high for what it is.
