This has worked well for me. Planted seeds and saw growth after a few days. At about 80 days I had very large healthy plants producing golden cherry tomatoes. The kit includes everything you need and will last a long time. Overall high quality.

Tried to grow inside in the winter. Looks nothing like the picture. The plants just get too cold unless the bright grow light is on them 24/7. Only a few bloomed and died quickly. Not worth trying to grow in off seasons.

I recently tried the HiHoya Lettuce Seed Pods for my hydroponic system, and overall, I’m happy with the product, though there are a few things to note. The 14 pods included a good variety of lettuces—Romaine, Butter Head, Red & Green Leaf, Black Seeded Simpson, Red Sail, and Marvel of 4 Seasons—which was a nice touch since they are all varieties I enjoy eating. The fact that the seller focused on lettuces I’d actually use made this kit particularly appealing to me.As far as germination goes, I had a 70% success rate, which is a bit lower than the 95% the seller advertises. While not ideal, it wasn’t a huge setback. I quickly identified which pods were growing and which weren’t, and I was able to replant promptly, keeping my hydroponic setup on track. Despite the slightly lower germination rate, the pods that did sprout grew well, and I’m expecting a healthy harvest from those.I did find that I could have used a couple more bottles of plant food to keep things going at full speed, though I understand this wasn’t necessarily a fully comprehensive growing setup. I had to supplement a bit to ensure the plants got the nutrition they needed, which was manageable but something to keep in mind for anyone new to hydroponics.What I really appreciate is the variety of lettuce included—having different options gives me a nice range of flavors and textures to enjoy. The seed pods themselves are easy to work with and the growing process is straightforward, especially if you’re familiar with hydroponic gardening. The sponges in which the seeds are planted worked well enough, and I didn’t encounter any significant issues.If you’re just starting out with hydroponics, or if you want a quick, no-fuss lettuce-growing solution, this is a good product. However, be prepared for a slightly lower germination rate than advertised and be ready to supplement with some additional nutrients. Overall, I’m pleased with the product and look forward to enjoying a variety of fresh lettuce from my setup in the near future.

We put several seeds in each pod, but we did get plants out of each one. These have grown well and given us 16-18 inch plants that we have harvested from for a month or so. The plants are unexpectedly large with stalks that just about fill the holes available in the garden system. This summer we will see if we can get greater yield by transplanting them outside.I believe that the overall cost of the lettuce is not significantly more or less than buying at the grocery store, though I have not run those numbers. Regardless, there is some satisfaction from growing your own produce and being able to harvest minutes before the meal.

This lettuce seed kit is excellent! I used the sponges, plant food, covers, and seeds included in the kit, and every single seed germinated. To be cautious, I placed three seeds in each sponge, and sometimes multiple plants sprouted from the same hole. The germination rate is truly fantastic!All the lettuce types grew healthy and strong. However, I’d recommend planting a single variety at a time since different types don’t grow at exactly the same speed. It makes harvesting and maintenance much easier.The kit itself is well put together. As long as you have a hydroponic system, this kit provides everything else you need to enjoy fresh greens year-round. Highly recommend it for effortless lettuce gardening!
