I wouldn’t normally comment on assembly but it’s worth pointing out that, in spite of the instructions, the stand comes largely assembled and all the screws and knobs shown as separate parts are already in place on the main part of the stand. I didn’t enjoy that minute or two of panic I felt looking at the instructions and wondering where the parts bag was.I also didn’t like that the back of the stand, that supports the cello scroll came attached to the stand body – upside down – no, doubt to facilitate packaging but, again, something sure to confuse the purchaser. Finally, the legs and neck cradle are locked with a push-button mechanism commonly used on guitar stands. The buttons on the legs are comfortable and easy to press, the button on the neck cradle was much less so.I like that the height of the two supporting arms the cello rests in can be adjusted within a range of a few inches. This not only acomodates different sized cellos but different end pin rod lengths. I also like that the neck support is easily securely with a knob and freely adjustable to handle all sizes of cello. The floor legs of the stand are long and sit very securely on both hard floor and carpet, In this stand, a cell could withstand a gentle brush and not go anywhere. That said, if you need to shift the stand around - with or without the cello in it - it’s not so comfortable to just grab it and slide.I’m not sure how truly portable I would rate this stand. You can collapse it to an extent and lean it in a room corner or a closet. But the shape, including the long legs make it awkward to carry around – especially if you’re also transporting a cell in its case.I would like it more if the legs, like the supporting arms, were hinged and could be retracted so the stand might fit into the kind of long bag used to store a large yoga mat or something similar.Bottom Line: Well-made, extremely sturdy and adaptable – if not exactly portable. And for the eagle-eyed, that’s not an inverted image, that’s a genuine left-handed cello.

Using for a 3/4 Cello and it holds it securely. Stand is adjustable and would also fit half and full-size cellos.. bow hanging spot on the backis a nice touch.

This is great quality and can’t beat the price, I would definitely prefer the bottom hooks a little bit lower I thought that part was also adjustable. I’m using this for a full size upright bass. It’s very strong just sits a bit high. Works great

This is a very sturdy cello stand, and I am quite happy with it. In fact, I think it is better than the one we have for the other cello. This one looks great, seems to be very stable, and holds the cello in place well. I am very pleased with it. Also, the padding for the base of the cello is ample, and I do not have to add a towel over the arms to help protect the varnish.

I had a wooden stand that I was using and to be honest I didn't feel like my cello was as safe as I would have liked when it was in the stand. This stand is all metal. There's a small amount of assembly requied but it's simple and the directions are easy to follow. The stand is very stable and the part that holds the neck is adjustable. I was able to set my cello in the stand without having to adjust the spike so it would fit. I really like that part. The stand also has a place to hang your bow on the back which, while a standard feature on most cello stands, is very convenient. The feet or base of the stand are wide and long enough to provide a very stable place for your cello. My cat's have been known to rub up against my cello before with them knocking it off the stand once. This stand should stand up to that a lot better AND it's got a bar that locks the cello's head in place so it's going to be very difficult for my cats to cause any problems.I would compare this stand to some more expensive ones. It's as stable a cello stand as I've seen and it provides a nice and secure spot to set it when you're finished playing.

I bought this cello/bass stand to hold my tambura since “traditional” stands are nearly impossible to find in the States. In any case, this stand is sturdy enough and large enough to hold my tambura as well as my sitar. I highly recommend this product for this purpose!

Got this because it said it would fit a bass. My friend's bass technically does fit on it, but the strap at the top that locks it in can't go around the neck of the bass like it should. It's still better than just having it lean up against the wall, but if you want a stand for a bass, you should probably look for one made specifically for one.

This is an excellent stand for a cello. It is easy to assemble, and very sturdy. My 4/4 cello fits very nicely into this stand. It holds the cello far off the floor, so you can leave the endpin out to your desired height. This is great if your cello's endpin is stubborn and doesn't like to come out easily (like mine). The brackets that hold the cello can also be adjusted. The back piece that holds the neck is very adjustable, and has a locking bar to hold the neck in. It has a hook on the back of the neck portion for a bow. I leave my cello in its case during the winter, but once spring comes, I'll be pulling my cello out and leaving it on this stand for easy access.I bought this for my cello, but since the description states that it will work for an upright bass, I tried that too. This stand does NOT hold my 3/4 upright bass. The adjustable neck portion does go high enough to accommodate an upright bass, if the brackets that hold the bottom of the instrument are in their lowest position. However, the piece that goes around the neck of the instrument is far too short to reach around the neck of a bass. Also, the stand feels a little too flimsy to accommodate the weight and size of a bass.I'm still giving this 5 stars though, since I bought it specifically for my cello and I think it's a great, nice-looking stand for that purpose.
