The white popper is a classic on those river smallmouths. I caught many with this lure, but beware the hooks are extremely sharp. Had to pull two of them deep out of my thumb after a 3.5 pounder started thrashing and flopping on the deck. Continued to catch fish after that incident 👍

I have caught more fish than when I used the Pop-R. You know the one. The green one that's in every tackle box. Anyway this casts much further, walks if you want, and something else I never even heard of.... The bass pictured were caught not on topwater, but by dragging the lure about four feet. It actual dives about six inches, and wobbles/rolls a lil as it is "swept" with the rod. Very cool action to vary your casting time with a popper. The bass were absolutely hammering it, very cool to see them come up and get it as it rose back to surface
