No bells and whistles, perfect center isn't always exact, but works well. Not sturdy enough to be used in construction but works for a regular schmuck like me.

Had high hopes for the Preciva Wall Scanner Sensor -4 in 1. I am an engineer with over 40 years of electro-mechanical experience. I have used numerous stud finders in my life but this one is the worst. I had some book shelves to install so thought I would give this a try. Read and followed directions. I tried the "stud" setting first and after several sweeps of not finding anything (Yes, I did calibrate in a known dead zone, and no, I did not move it away from the wall after calibration. Yes, I did keep the button pressed the entire sweep), it started giving some readings that I marked with a pencil. Some were only a few inches apart. Many were scattered over the wall. Next, tried the deep setting. Well this found different locations for what it thought were studs. Finally decided to try the metal setting, hoping it would find the drywall screws. Again it "found" several but nowhere near the "stud" or "deep" locations. After 20 minutes I had about 30 markings on the wall, some near each other (within a 5" circle) many no where near each other. Finally went down to the fridge and grabbed a neodymium magnet my wife used for holding pictures. It found all the drywall screws in about 5 minutes, all in rows indicating stud locations and also no where near any markings the "Preciva Wall Scanner Sensor" though they were. This piece of junk is going back.

Seems like a decent stud finder. My main beef is I'm always skeptical when I receive an item that is not in a factory sealed box, andor item does not have obvious signs of being new. Such as lensdisplay protector screen or the such. Did I just get sent a usedreturned item that I paid new prices for?Found rafter in ceiling easily enough, did some quick testing with the AC mode, only way I got a hit was when I scanned external wire to device. Metal mode seems to work decent enough.

I bought this because I didn't trust the results coming from my Zircon detector which was picking up studs where there were none. This one takes a moment to calibrate before offering a reading and is very accurate. The ability to find the center of the stud is my favorite feature. Unlike a lot of bargain electronics, it comes with very thorough written instructions which are worth reading.

I tested this unit a few days ago. It found a wood stud, no problem, and appears to show me the edges and center of the stud as well. I have not yet used it for a project (haven't drilled in to the stud after finding it) but I assume it's showing me the correct place; I'll update if I ever find out that it's wrong :)Wood stud - foundAC power source - foundMetal stud - I don't have these in my home, so could not test.Tip for use - check the instruction manual to make sure you are holding it the right way while you scan the wall. It only works reliably if you use it correctly.

It's simple and works well. Beats out the Stanley one that was on it's last leg when I got this one. Seems to be fairly accurate, and I was impressed with the quality of the instructions. I'd definitely recommend it to others. My only complaint so far is that I wish I could turn off the indicator buzzer, it's helpful, but I wish I had the option to turn it off.I was asked to evaluate this product for a fair review.

My old stud finder finally died. I'd had it since the 1980's and I thought it worked pretty good. Now that I have this new stud finder I wish I had bought something like this a lot sooner. I've tried all of the settings and I find this to be very accurate. I just used it so I could mount a fire extinguisher, which is very heavy. I needed accuracy so I could get all four screws into one stud and it worked as advertised. What else can I say about this stud finder? It's easy to use. It is very accurate. And unlike another user that condemned this as poorly built and that he had to wait a few seconds for it to calibrate itself, I really like it. He should have returned it for a replacement if he had a problem. However, some people are never happy. He even knocked it because it is purple? Really? I like the purple color. It doesn't clash with the colors of any of my rollaway tool boxes, LOL. That in and of itself is a good indicator that that guy is never going to be happy. Anyway, I am very happy and I am going to buy one for my son and my son-in-law. Just buy it and try it. You will like it.
